The spa and wellness facilities are closed, and the terrace is also inaccessible. These are material amenities that are central to Axel Hotel’s reputation and guest experience, were important reasons I selected Axel, and help justify the hotel’s premium pricing.
As a result, the experience I paid for has effectively been reduced to a basic hotel room with a small gym that I did not intend to use.

Overall, the hotel was very clean. The room was small but fine for one person. It’s a quirky place in terms of decor which I liked. I thought the buffet was OK but the selection was average. The fellow who checked me in on Saturday afternoon was very charming, helpful, and informative.
