Staff was extremely rude with the exception of house cleaning. We had ants all over in our room and my wife found a roach crawling on her arm while laying in bed. We’ve stayed here in the past a few different times and always loved it but this place has went downhill. The entertainment was horrible and so was the food. We tried to make a reservation for the Japanese restaurant and they told us it was already reserved for the whole week, but if we bought a bottle of wine for a hundred dollars they could squeeze us in which really made me mad because that meant they wasn’t fully reserved they was just trying to make more money off of us. We sat down to eat one night and the waiter never brought us drinks and was rude when I asked him about it and then still didn’t bring us any. I travel all the time all inclusive and several times to this resort as I mentioned and this was by far the worst experience. I hope they get it resolved because this use to be such a great resort.

This was our first trip ever. I understand we arrived to the resort after a hurricane. Staff was supposably limited and understaffed. First off, they made me get 2 rooms because i had my 2 teenage daughters with us. We could have stayed in 1 room with the 2 queen beds like my other family members had. So that cost us alot of money. Thinking we are at a resort we could eat anytime and that wasnt the case unless you went to the buffett and truth be told the food was all disgusting except for the taco grill and hamburger grill by the pool. The beach smelt like crap and we didnt spend 1 day down there on our 5 day vacay. It wasnt worth it until we went to xel - xha which made it all worth it and we left the resort to adventure around 5th street which had way better food and beautiful beaches. We spent alot for this trip and it was the biggest waste and a truley bad experience. Such a let down and a ripoff.

It’s sad that in order to get to the resort, you have to drive through dirty, undesirable areas. The actual property is beautiful and very well maintained.

This hotel is terrible and in no way shape or form a 4 or 5 star resort. my family and i have coming to mexico annually for the last 20 years and have never been so disappointed. On all our prior trips to riviera maya we have always felt welcome and were greeted with traditional mexican hospitality….well not at the platinum riviera princess. The check in hostess was just plain rude, and 3-4 groups of guests were sitting around waiting well after the supposed 3pm check in time. The reservation system for the a la carte restaurants was quite the hassle but we managed to get reservations all 7 nights of our stay. Other than Mamma mia and La hacienda they were horrible, with the exclusive “Black and White” Dinner being extra bad. We arrived on time to every reservation but not once were we seated…expect to wait 20-30 mins, but still ahow up on time because if you are late they will cancel your reservation. The buffets were repetitive with horrible service, even the breakfasts were bad and how can you mess up breakfast??? room service was comically bad and was delivered cold and way later than the estimated time every time we ordered. My family and I managed to have a good time by actually laughing at how bad this place is, i am so glad that this was not the first place i went to in mexico because i would never have come back. Everything at this hotel is disorganized in a major way, stay away from this place 2 stars tops!

The property was huge. The design and atmosphere were designed for comfort entertainment. Most of the staff was polite and helpful. The grounds were not kept well, and cleanliness was an issue. Our room was large and spacious but aged and dated. There were gnats in our room, the cleaning staff should have poured bleach down all the drains in the bathroom and on the balcony grounds to avoid this issue, I had Clorox wipes and placed those over all drains and the gnats went away. The hotel did send someone immediately to spray for insects and fix the issues, lights and lamps that were not working. Our side was quiet away from the pool. I am so thankful we paid extra for platinum bands, we also paid extra for dinner at the chill out giving us access to the chill out area for bar service. Food at chill out and al a cart restaurant were great but the buffet for lunch and dinner was not good, you won't starve but I expect more from a resort. Room service was ok but the food was not hot by arrival and the language difference made it hard to get our orders correct. We enjoyed the activities and the platinum pool area, For the price it was worth it but this is not a five star maybe 3.1/4

It was not a 5 star property. It started with the very long check-in process with unfriendly people. Welcome drinks were offered to my husband and not myself. I asked for a welcome drink and was denied until I raised my voice. The resort was old, dirty and the staff were not helpful. We served ourself for the majority of our trip because the servers did not greet us at the table or get our drinks. The food was terrible. It was cold, unflavored and not professional. The pools and grounds were dirty, as evidenced by leaves and trees all over the place. The rooms and furnishings were outdated, stained and dirty. The mattresses were very hard and our backs hurt the entire trip. They need new televisions, they do not have any updated hdmi ports on the tvs. We attempted to contact the resort before and after our trip with no avail. We accidentally left something in our room after check-out and couldn't get in touch with anyone. I just kept getting transferred from person to person who couldn't or wouldn't help. Terrible, terrible, terrible resort. Do not fall for the false advertising. Not a 5 star!!! Not a 5 star!!! I still would like to be contacted by management to rectify our belonging we left behind but I'm pretty sure it is gone or misplaced due to the amount of time that has passed. Don't waste your time and money. You will regret it!

Staff is not customer service oriented. We traveled with 4 kids . Horrible experience . Please do not waste your time or money . Either the hotel management or staff cared about any issues or just to make sure you were confortable . I always preferred cancun over any other places due to Mexicans customer service. Very large resort, buffet was tolerable but not great, the beach was decent but the water/ocean was NOT. It was shallow and dirty and the smell was overwhelming and could be smelled throughout the resort at times. It was shallow and found I was not able to enjoy any ocean swimming, though the lounge chairs and soft sand were nice. The specialty dining options Mamma Mia and the Miso Hibachi were amazing! The steakhouse is a NO go! The entertainment (evening shows) were fantastic, especially the fire dancers and pirate show! The rooms were always clean and HUGE! No complaints on the room! The shower was also large and the balcony was lovely. The pools were always clean. Chairs were not hard to come by at any time of the day, however there were the typical a**holes who put towels out and are never anywhere to be seen, limited the shaded areas. Staff was nice, though English was very difficult for most. Lots of wildlife. Overall we had a great vacation.
