We liked everything about his resort until check out when we were surprised to be charged for water from the mini-fridge. Bottled water was in abundance everywhere and for free so we thought the water in the fridge was free too. Nope. As I said everything else was great. Food, staff, safety, and the location could not have been more perfect.

This is my second time staying here and I was thrilled the first time. The second time, I got a room with plunge pool. The private plunge pool had debris in it, so much that I didn’t use it the entire stay. It looked dirty and very worn. There were ants all over the room, not sure you. An avoid it considering the natural resources used do build these bungalows but I found ants in the bed. The walls had spots of mold, the door didn’t lock very well which worried me. The room safe didn’t work, lights in the room didn’t work, the smoke detector needed new batteries, the sofa in the room was filthy and stained, we didn’t sit on it at all. The room was beachfront which I DO NOT recommend because it’s a public beach and they party all day and night. I couldn’t sleep the entire trip because of the noise factor….this premium bungalow turned out to not be worth it. Very different experience than when I came last month. The staff is great, the food is okay and the drinks have hardly any alcohol in them. I could drink 10 drinks and still be sober. Beautiful grounds and views but I probably wouldn’t stay here again because the rooms attract bugs

I booked Mahekal resort feeling a little skeptical about it because of some reviews but let me tell you this place is underrated. First, every single worker has the best attitude and service, the place was super clean even after hurricane beryl which hit the peninsula a week before I got there I got there. The resort is right on the beach, the room service was awesome and room was super clean, anything i could ask for they brought it to me. It is very conveniently located as it is walking distance from 5th avenue where you can find restaurants, bars, clubs, shopping centers. The all inclusive option was great, a lot of variety in every meal and all you can drink as well. No surprise fees of any kind. You can also book tours at the hotel. I will give them 10/10 and if I have a chance to come back I would definitely do it

It was my 50th birthday and my 25 year wedding anniversary, so my husband and I. Decided to take a trip to mexico. Everything was awesome. Property everything was great I paid for the all inclusive. The food was good. The only downfall is that I am very disappointed due to when I checked in Expedia. Told me that I owed the hotel a $140 difference for my resort. I get there. They charge me to 276. Then the girl turns around and tells me I owe 320 for. Accidentals, and that my release the money when I check out of the hotel it is now July 10th and my bank . Took the money out of my account again because they said it was resort fees when I paid Expedia with the receipt, the 140 paid to expedia and other 140 due at resort stating on the receipt that I owed the hotel. That was my responsibility by all means I would not be so upset, but when you tell me it's for accidentals and then they're going to reimburse me the charges and then turn around and deny them makes me very upset. Please be warned when they tell you that It's just ahold on the account when it's an actual charge.

Husband and I had a great experience. The staff of the Resort was friendly and very helpful. We noticed they are also hard workers, they were keeping the place clean at all times. This Resort is very close to the 5th Avenue the Main Street at Playa de Carmen .. walking distance to many restaurants, stores and fun!

Everything excellent, the only thing that must be improved is the strong musty smell in the rooms, probably caused by the area's humid tropical weather. They should install air purifiers or dehumidifiers in their rooms.

Overall, ok. Main issues: all inclusive didn't include in-room dining but you can go and order in the restaurant. Doesn't make sense for saving their money. Some rooms were falling apart, broken doors and worse, water coming into the rooms when it rained, which was often. We had to clean up with towels. I would not go again.

Property is too run down and not up to par. Also the beach is not private, way tooo many people interrupting the view. The rooms are not nice and not comfortable. Service is okay.

we checked into the room there were termites in both of the beds, the bathroom door had missing parts letting you see inside There were bugs on the floor everywhere filled with grass and sand. Not properly cleaned. And we couldn’t stay in that room, so they change the room for us temporarily to one with no ocean view and then after that, one night staying in the temporary room they change again and told us to move to an ocean view room which was terrible experience of my life. Ocean room has a smog detector that kept beeping every minute and we couldn’t sleep. The toilet when you flush it makes loud sounds until water tank becomes full. All of the windows are leaking and it falls to the floor flooding it and we couldn’t figure out where to put our shoes. Because of the floor flooding, if we weren’t careful we would slip and fall making the stay uncomfortable and stressful because it was not a relaxing experience. We called front desk couple of times to tell them about the issues and they don’t know how to figure out the problems. They were avoiding us. They don’t answer the phone, they put us on hold, and in the middle of the night we walk front desk to tell about the situation and ask them why they not pick up the phone, only to say they don’t have an answer. There was not professional and humanity service in the staff. They offer us a broken umbrella and tell us to use it. they did not offer any apologies or solutions towards our situation.
