I had an amazing stay at Casa de Campo. The property is absolutely beautiful, the drinks were great, and the bartenders were some of the friendliest people I encountered. I didn’t run into any major problems during my stay, except for one issue that I cannot overlook.
The golf cart I was given was noticeably slow compared to others. I spoke with other African American guests who said the same thing about their carts. That is not okay. It felt discriminatory, and although I am giving the resort another chance, I need to be very clear that this cannot happen again. If it does, I will not be returning. Every guest deserves equal treatment, no matter what.
The food was enjoyable, but the breakfast left a lot to be desired. It was very basic with limited options. There was no waffle machine, and the breakfast staff did not have the same welcoming energy as the rest of the resort employees. Asking for a mimosa felt like a hassle, which should never be the case at an all-inclusive resort. Even getting a glass of water was a challenge at times. That was frustrating considering what I paid for this experience.
I also visited the nightclub. While it was fun to check out, I was disappointed by the aggressive drink service. I was offered a drink I didn’t ask for, then charged an outrageous amount. I take some responsibility for that, but guests should be warned about these kinds of tactics.
Despite these issues, I truly enjoyed my vacation. I will return, but only if things improve,
