The Island of Elba is the third largest Italian island after Sicily and Sardinia and is the largest in the Tuscan Archipelago. Elba has a coastline of 147 km. In 1798, French troops based in Portoferraio further strengthened the stronghold, but a civic uprising half-destroyed the complex, and from that moment it was definitively abandoned. It has been recently restored and can now be visited and after the visit, one can enjoy the beautiful view on Elba.
