Second stay- Delighted with Improvements

Posted Jul 12, 2016
Pros: Great place to just relax. No schedules to keep. If you sleep through breakfast you can order room service.
Cons: Getting around this huge resort complex to a restaurant or theatre can sometimes pose a hassle. More shuttle drivers during the evening hours needed.
Location: I don't recommend walking to nearby town. Best souvenir shopping can be found at airport.
We had a great time here last year, so we returned this year and extended our stay to 9 days. Highly suggested you book a swim out suite. We were delighted to find improvements in that the pools were resurfaced with new ceramic tiles, and the splintered decking was replaced outside every suite. New selections in the ala carte restaurants provided additional variety. Food choices were good, but don't expect the same caliber as you would find on a cruise ship.

Pack A Lunch

Posted Jul 12, 2016
Pros: The swim out suite is an amazing must have.
Cons: The food and room service response and timeliness.
Location: The beach was amazing and they offered parasailing and different activities.
Unfortunately the food was terrible. I am not a picky or yuppy person. I read some reviews about bad food and I thought that the people that wrote them were probably just pretentious people and that I eat pizza twice per week so it will probably not be bad at all. I was wrong. My girlfriend called it inedible... We called room service a couple of times with no answer. Sometimes we called and got service, it was hit or miss... The staff were mostly friendly. They got friendlier after we attempted speaking their language and started having fun with them. The suite was amazing! The swim out suite is a must. We thoroughly enjoyed it. And the beach site was amazing. We could go down anytime and get any bed, chair or spot we wanted... I wanted to do the "inclusive" catamaran but in order to do that I had to pay $100 for a day lesson then I could use it, we found this out on the 2nd to last day there so didnt do it. We also wanted to scuba but had to pay for that lesson too which was understandable. Neither of those issues were deal breakers... just the godawful food...

We were treated like Royalty, at Palladium in the Royal Suite of Turqesa. We were very impressed with EVERY employee, they always had a smile on there face and ready to help!! We loved our butler (Arcenio) was AMAZING!! He really deserves a raise! He was so ready to jump at our every question. One day we walked to the lobby. Here runs in (Arcenio) to tell us we left safe door open and workers were coming in to work on the tv. He got my dsughtèr to go back and lock the safey

Great place for fun or rest.

Posted Jun 13, 2016
Pros: This being the first time my family visited Royal Turquesa and they were very happy with their stay here. This had been my daughter and I second visit
Cons: Some of the newer staff needs better training on customer service.
Location: The location is perfect. You have two pools with access to the beach directly behind the pool. Great place for adult get away.
I was a customer last year and experienced such good service I came back this year. This year, I did notice a small decline in the service and noticed the huge turn over of so many new staff. We had an issue with our butler and quickly brought it to the hotels attention. On a positive note, I want to acknowledge the great service my family received from the driver Tomas. I also want to acknowledge the consistent professional service we received at the Gourmet restaurant especially from Wilmer and the greeting host. Wilmer's pleasant smile and attentiveness brought me and my daughter to the gourmet for breakfast every morning. Management might want to have some of the newer servants take note of what it takes to provide good service from Wilmer's performance.

3rd Stay but will Never Return

Posted Jun 5, 2016
Pros: The secret pool is wonderful as is the beach. The beds were comfortable and rooms very nice.
Cons: Showing signs of needing repairs all thru the resort. Staff needs to be more friendly and helpful. Larger portions of food at dinner
Location: There isn't much to do nearby, resort has little to no entertainment. Don't go to the village next door, they hastle you
This was our 3rd trip to RST and will never come back.. The service at the restaurants is horrible. You have to wait quite a long time to just get a cup of coffee or water. They forget you are their. The servers act like they are doing you a favor by being there. They never smile and are not friendly, in fact, sometimes rude. We were at Adults only and even though we booked the ala carte restaruants upon check in, we were not able to get the restaurants we wanted. How is this possible? Especially when I heard the "butler" get reservations for another couple the day after for the ones we wanted. Butler service, non existent. You see them the 1st day, tip them so you have better service and never see them again. Our mini bar was supposed to be restocked daily. After 3 days and no replenishment I made 4 calls to the Butler station and still only had 1 bottle of water and 2 bottles of soda. No snacks. 5 calls later they get rude and bring 3 large bottles of water and a 6 pack of beer and 6 pack of soda. We requested a swim up room and were told the only availble ones were the Cabana Suites at $50 or per day. WE paid it only to find out there were plenty of other empty swim up rooms at $20 per day. What a rip off. Towels, good luck getting a beach towel. On several occassions we came back to our room and noticed someone had been in there, even after the room had been cleaned.

Royal suites

Posted Apr 24, 2016
The Royal suites were set up nicely with close location to pools and to the beach. The room was comfortable and the mini bar was kept full of drinks through out the stay. The service was very good at times and sometimes not so good. Overall though very attentive and accommodating.

Never Stay at Royal Suites Turquesa

Posted Apr 18, 2016 on Orbitz
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything from customer service to cleanliness to decent towels (available all day) get rid of stained pool chair cushions. More non-smoking areas
Location: Nothing close; complex massive; not relaxing. Location immediately adjacent to vendors shops & you can't walk the beach without being harassed
This hotel was billed as 5 star and it isn't even close to a 3 star. The rooms never got cool, towels were scarcely available, the linens were shotty, breakfast isn't available in any restaurant after 10 a.m., butler service is a joke, language is a barrier they use to their advantage. Everything was dingy dirty and smokers everywhere. Options for the adult only section were very limited and not as promoted on the website - two restaurants they said but what they don't tell you is it is one in the same but they count inside and outside dining as two restaurants; TV didn't work right the whole time and gave up trying to call for help with it. Room service menu is very limited. Beverages were horrible. Only one beer Presidente and it tasted like soap. Plastic bar glasses cracked and they still used them to serve. No turn down service and room isn't cleaned before 3 pm Kids from other adjoining resorts come to the adult only private beach and no one makes them leave. Husband and I both got sick from the food and that has never happened and we have traveled the world. Ocean view is a overstated. Minimal view of the ocean from even the rooms closest to the ocean. Lots of seaweed on the beach. No one went out of their way to be friendly or keep the resort looking nice. Allow peddlers on the beach. Secret pool was okay but that is for other complexes on the resort as well

Beautiful hotel. Swim up rooms are wonderful.

Posted Apr 14, 2016
Great stay. Absolutely worth every penny to have a swim up room. Grounds are beautiful. Restaurants are plentiful and generally good food but could use a bit more choice and variety on the buffets for salad in the a la cattle restaurants.
