Don't just limit yourself to Quangang, because the wider region features plenty of natural and cultural attractions waiting to be explored. You'll find Quanzhou, 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the northeast, and Putian 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the south.
Approximately 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the southwest of Quangang is Quanzhou, a regional center where you'll find Kaiyuan Temple, Zhenguo Tower and Anxi Fengshan Park. And don't return to Quangang until you've stopped by Quanzhou's Chinese Tea Plaza, Tea Market and Zhan Dunren Memorial.
A good way to understand an area is by knowing about its past. Don't miss the traditional villages while you are here.
Pack your own equipment or rent it locally, and get out onto the water. Rafting is a popular activity. Another is swimming.
An excellent way to impress the locals is talking the native language, so before you head to Fujian be sure to practice a few basic Mandarin phrases. "Nǐ yào bú yào gēn wǒ tiàowǔ" ("Would you like todance with me?") is a good one to know. And, for "This gentleman/lady will pay for everything", you can practice the phrase "Zhèiwèi xiānsheng huì qīngdān" Don't be shy, just give it a try!
At the end of your stay in Quangang, spend the last of your renminbi on last minute keepsakes and bid a fond Zàijiàn (farewell).
