Prior to booking, I messaged the host who responded quickly answering my questions and once booked, they were super informative of what to expect not only of their home, but our travel desires and what Taveuni had to offer. The caretakers Robert and Vinna are amazing! Robert picked us up at the airport, him and Vinna showed us around the house, and were so accommodating to our travel plans like going to the waterfall, snorkeling (on their boat), and water slides, which our kids loved. They can pretty much set up anything you’d like and are reasonably priced! They also have their own little stand where they sell homemade ice cream and seasonal produce. The house was beautiful inside and out— literally 2 min from the airport. The pool was perfect at all times of the day and the views were spectacular. The house was comfortable more than enough room for the 4 of us and family friendly too. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Taveuni! We felt welcome from the moment we arrived, had a wonderful easy time and were very sorry to leave. This isn't a hotel or resort - it's a homestay and we really felt at home. Jale, Nita, Sia and Jima are creative, interesting and generally exceptional people and perfect hosts. They can organise lots of things for you to do, but they don't 'push' anything. It's up to you. The food was REALLY excellent - some of the best food we've eaten, ever, anywhere. My two boys (aged 8 and 10) and I stayed for four nights and would have happily made it forty if we could have. Leaving was a bit of a shock to the system! If you and/or your kids like playing rugby, it's an especially great place. More broadly, Taveuni is a beautiful island - quiet but with things to see and do. Really worth a visit. Give it as much time as you can.
