Location was great (although a bit challenging to find at first). Room was a bit dirty (there was something under the duvet that looked like food crumbs near the foot of the bed and there were hairs on the bed too).

Excellent location; within walking distance to the city center. Staff was mostly amazing...had only one incident where the front desk person was on the phone with a friend and rudely made me wait to attend to me. Other than that, an excellent stay. Air conditioning worked well during their historical heat wave that was happening while we were there. Breakfast was decent if you're considering adding that...hot and cold foods and a really good espresso machine. Nice bar area and sitting area where we were able to meet friends and have a snack/drink while we caught up. This hotel should be on your short list if you're visiting Gouda!

While it was kind (and odd) to be upgraded but without access to the M Lounge, it really didn't matter. The staff working The Pillars were all superb - particularly Maressa who kindly helped me improve my Dutch language skills. As the other 'front of house' for the hotel they are an absolute credit and I hope are recognised as such. The room was wonderful and we slept well followed up by an extensive range of breakfast choices to set you up for the day. I can recommend the cheese omelette. The location just across from Centraal station was another benefit meaning we had time to explore more Rotterdam before finally catching the train home.
