Rose River Cottage is a gem! The outdoor spaces are so nice and the fenced in yard was a treat for our pup that you don’t find at many properties. Beth is a great host; she promptly responded to all questions and really wanted to be sure we had all the comforts and amenities we wanted or needed. We visited the area with the purpose of going to New River Gorge National Park. The drive there from the cottage was beautiful not too far with several nice waterfalls along the way. Train lovers will also love this cottage as many of them passed on the other side of the River.
This is a must stay property. We loved celebrating our anniversary here. So peaceful and so accommodating. The host was in contact with me to make sure we arrived safely and if there was anything we needed. We have rented cabins in the past and I have to say this is at the top of our list. Highly highly recommend. Everything you need is there.
We loved the quaint neighborhood and beautiful riverfront views. The house had everything we needed and we were able to go out for adventures during the day and come back to relax, fish or make dinner for the evening. Great spot! We’ll be back!
This place was incredible! The home was beautiful and exceptionally clean! The location was perfect with a view that was serene and peaceful! We did not have any problems during our stay. I highly recommend this place!! My daughter 9 enjoyed the chalkboard wall as well as the games! Thank you for opening your home to us
Great place to unwind and relax. This place kept
Very well with inviting decorations, amenities and scenery from the porch and deck is incredible . A single bathroom is bit of a challenge. Over all great place.
We had a great time.
The house was stocked with everything you would need for your stay. Most of our time at the house was spent out on the porch taking in the view or casting a line into the river from the dock below. The closed in fence was convenient for our pup. We would absolutely stay in the house again, and Beth was super responsive with all communication and made sure we had everything we needed.
We had an exception time and enjoyed our stay. Brought our boat and traveled via the Kanawha River 30 miles to Charlestown as a day trip. Also enjoyed skiing every morning on morning glass. Great view of the river and area attractions.
The property owners attention to small details like local recommendations, snacks, and a fully stocked coffee bar truly make this property a great place to visit. The location sets it a part from others in the area with the connivence of being a short drive from all attractions. Can’t wait to stay again!
This was a perfect place for three high school friends to stay for a mini-reunion. The beds were comfortable and the house was well stocked. I can’t imagine anything you need that wasn’t there. And so many nice touches with coffee, snacks, decor… Lots of care is obviously put into making this an inviting place to stay from the decor to the comfortable porch, deck, and fire pit overlooking the mountains and the Kanawha River.
Our family of 4 had a great stay at the Rose River Cottage! It served as an excellent home base for adventures in the area. We hiked at NRG NP, white water rafted (West Virginia Adventures) and Cliff jumped at Summersville Lake (pirates cove for the rocks). Beautiful mornings and sunsets on the river. House is well stocked, and hosts were unbelievably quick with responses.
This home has it all, and I do mean everything! clean house, lots of towels and wash cloths, even has a complete stocked coffee bar. I could go on, but I think just saying we will return is enough. Oh and i should say it was very quiet getaway.
Exceeded online photos. It was so relaxing and roomy. Decorated very nicely and stocked with everything you could need. Could not have asked for more. Above and beyond expectations!
Property was perfect!! View was beautiful!! The mountains right out your front door. It was so nice to go out sight seeing and coming home to just relax. The fenced in yard was a blessing our dog really liked her vacation also. The owner did communicate with us daily. Highly recommend.
Great place 30 mins from the gorge. 10 mins from Cathedral falls. It has gas burners, which was helpful because the power went out on our last night! So we were still able to make dinner!
My husband and I stayed fall of 2023. We were too early for fall foliage, but the landscape was still beautiful. We enjoyed relaxing evenings on the deck - hiking, near by shops, beautiful drives, national park proximity - just an overall wonderful experience. Would highly recommend

Thank you for a wonderful stay. I have never given a perfect 10 before. I reserve that for the cream. I can no longer say i have never. Great view, immaculate, well appointed; Beth has thought of everything. Will stay again.
This spot is amazing. The view and set up is perfect. The neighorhood and neighbors were so nice! The house is STOCKED. Fenced in yard for the dogs. They had the best time! Host truly cares for this house. One of the best vacations i have been on. West Virginia is beautiful!!!!
This property was a great place to stay while visiting the Gorge in WV. The owner was very responsive. We had storms come through and knock the power out for the entire town and the owner communicated very timely, which helped reduce any disruptions to our trip. The property was well equipped with everything we needed: nice porch over looking the river and mountains, dock for fishing, cozy covered porch, fire pit, grills, washing machine, four beds, all kitchen supplies, and a record player that my kids thought was cool. I would definitely recommend this property for anyone exploring this area. There was a 30 minute curvy drive to get to the touristy area.
House was very clean and decorated beautifully. The fenced in yard and dock made the stay with our fur babies so much easier. House was well stocked. Only complaint is the yard getting mowed at 730 on wednesdays (real early for us night shifters). Master bed wasnt very comfortable. Could use a mattress topper. But all in all was a very wonderful plac. umattress topperr. But all in place to rent
AMAZING! We were greeted with treats! Also had pepperoni rolls, a must try as it is the WV signature food.
The Rose River House exceeded our expectations! We felt right at home. Beth & Louie were the Best hosts! We really enjoyed meeting them.
Our family vacation to WV is packed with many wonderful memories! The River house is centrally located with many things to do. Waterfalls, hiking and white water rafting just to name a few. When your are ready to relax the scenery just sitting on the porch is picturesque. Hard to believe something so beautiful is effortlessly hand created right in front of you.
The River House and the Hosts are GEMS!
We couldn’t have been happier with our stay at the River Rose cottage, the only negative was we wish we could have stayed longer!
Upon arrival, there were numerous thoughtful snacks that the kids were so excited about, especially after a bit of a longer drive. The house is quite charming, and we had absolutely everything we could have needed and more. It’s obvious a lot of thought and love was put into this home to make it a wonderful place to stay. The location on the river is just gorgeous and so peaceful, and having the fenced in yard gave us peace of mind that the kids were safe while playing in the yard. Having never been to the area, we were unsure what to expect and were definitely wishing we had more time to enjoy just being on the river, and to explore the area more. Needless to say, we definitely hope to return and would absolutely stay here again.
