I went there for my birthday solo. Airport Transfer was smooth and very quick. Staff made me feel so special and welcomed. My room was big, clean and away from noises. Lots of food variety for each meal. Fresh and delicious. On my birthday night staff brought me a cake with a candle and 6 of them started singing for me and left me a small cake in my room with a card to surprise me after. Service is excellent from front desk to cleaners to restaurant staff to bar staff, entertainment staff all are very nice, kind and respectful. You’ll feel welcomed. The entire hotel is Super clean. They are always cleaning the facility. They keep offering different kinds of drinks at the beach. Food and drinks are excellent. Coffee at the lobby cafeteria is amazing, I was obsessed by it. Entertainment staff are supper excellent and very professional. My favourite ones are Andress, Diana and the rest, I just can’t remember all the names. Every night I had a blast even though I was by myself. I recommend Rui Palace for your vacation. I gotta say I was impressed.

We had an amazing week stay. The staff and service are amazing! Especially the bartenders and our server Pastor who always made sure we were well taken care of around the pools! The property wasn’t jammed packed like some of the other sister resorts we walked over to check out. It had a nice and mellow crowd. But if you’re looking for a more up beat party it was only a short walk away. There was a very nice selection of food and drink that was always on par. Would definitely go back and highly recommend!!

The facilities were very clean and well maintained. The entire staff was terrific. We loved the beach, in particular the beautiful breeze coming off the water. I’d say the food was fine. Nothing special. Drinks were consistently low on alcohol. You might consider bringing your own if drinking is a big part of your holiday.

This was our first experience staying at a RIU property. We did enjoy our stay. Food was pretty good, but wish there was an a la carte option for lunch. I am not a fan of buffets. The property is dated. Things like noticing seat cushions at the buffet having rips and the stuffing peeking out, pools missing lots of tiles, as well as cockroaches in the room were not so pleasant. The resort was noisy at night in terms of people being loud in the hallways at all hours of the night. The room phone rang randomly in the middle of the night twice the first night, waking us up with no one on the line. We ended up unplugging it. Staff was very pleasant, no complaints there. Food was good, actually better than the Dreams Playa Mujeres that we stayed at last year. My biggest complaint is the lack of seats at the beach and pool. People should not be allowed to claim seats and then leave for extended periods of times. At several times, my kids and I could not find seats so we resorted to putting our belongings on the pavement or sand. When we checked out at 4am to meet our shuttle the lobby was completely dark and eerie. I like well lit places. Overall I felt very safe there and loved the beach. Very little sargassum. It was a good trip and we enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are big, comfortable beds, nice decoration, nice views. The staff is amazing and so nice. The Property is beautiful and we loved all the shows, games and activities. The food is really good. The only thing that was diss appointing was the Hotel Credit. It is really a scam. It is not hotel credit, but rather discount coupons. You have to spend 20 times the price of the coupon to get a 10$ discount. If you want a massage at the spa… you hace to spend 200$ to get 10$ off.. THAT US NOT HOTEL CREDIT!

My family and I came during spring break, so hotels were really expensive, so the price in comparison was decent. We stayed at Riu Palace Mexico knowing we would not spend a ton of time at the hotel. The hotel is ok. Its not great; its not terrible. The food is mediocre at best. From the buffet to the specialty dining, it was not great and many times, not even good. The steakhouse was the best. We did not try the Italian restaurant. The staff was nice, but service in the restaurants was slow. Also, we asked for towels and waited over an hour. The rooms were dated and the electric switches were weird. In some cases you needed a weird combination of switches to turn on a light. There are 5 pools, but they are very small. Lastly, the entertainment was not a highlight. It was poorly communicated and subpar compared to our previous experiences at resorts in the area. Now for the good, the staff was pleasant and attentive outside of the sit down restaurants. The beach was large, lovely and well maintained. The white party looked fun, but we did not go. It was very clean. The bed was comfortable and the rooms spacious. The grounds are beautiful and the check in and out process was quick. You can visit the surrounding Riu hotels. We did check out the pool and lunch buffet at Yucatan. It was not much different than ours. Overall, it was ok. I wouldn't stay here again, but would recommend it if the price is decent and you plan on being away from the resort for a good part of the trip.

Beach is lovely and staff accommodative. Rooms are dated - Furniture scuffed, visible cracks in wall. overhead shower required to jam a floss pick on the side of the push button (maid left it alone in position) and the stand alone tub water pressure was negligible (40 minutes to fill). Spoke with the front desk, who sent a repair person. Asked the manager if I could switch rooms. Manager was polite noting the tub water pressure was the same for the entire property. I was sent a kind note along with chocolate strawberries. Your on vacation, nothing can derail relaxation and fun. Beach allows for long walks both North and South. Attentive staff brought beverages to the beach lounges. I was disappointed, as I chose a property with a tub jacuzzi to nursie a shoulder injury. A new coat of white paint along with plaster and furniture touch ups would improve the guest experience a lot. As a pescatarian, there were choices every night. The head chef may consider to ensure a vegetarian/pescatarian each night at the Mexican station. There were squash flower and mushroom different evenings, however selective nights were meat only. Overall a good stay. In regards to the jacuzzi water pressure, you expect more from RIU properties brand and consistency.

We’ve stayed at many Riu Palace properties over the years and really like them. I would have given 5 stars if the rooms were a little better. They were very tired looking and probably due for a refurb. Other than that, the outdoor areas were beautiful and very well maintained. The food at the restaurants and buffet were excellent and the beach was phenomenal!

The entertainment was loud and goes until 10:30 pm every night and you could hear doors closing everywhere so not too sound proof but awesome people and overall we liked it. We like to go to bed by 10. One night the hotel next door played their music until 12:30 am

This was our third stay in Playa Del Carmen with Riu and they fulfilled all of our expectations. We absolutely loved how everyone at Riu goes out of their way to make sure we were happy and satisfied. The cleanliness and all of the dining options plus the nightly entertainment on site with a short stroll to the beach makes this place the perfect getaway for us. We highly recommend!!!

The grounds and pools were beautiful and all the staff were very friendly. Richard at the front desk was awesome. The buffet and restaurants were very good. Only thing disappointing was that the band did not play in the square every night like the schedule promised. When the band did play, it was fun. We are not fans of the Michael Jackson show, Riu hotels should schedule more silent disco nights and live bands and fewer shows.

I loved the big clean beach area, lots of seating. But the pool was inconvenient as people were saving loungers. They were empty for hours, I think there should be rules enforced about that.

We had such an amazing time! Alberto the entertainer and dance coach made our vacation so much more enjoyable than we expected. We loved the opportunity to have lobster every night and the Gala buffet with all you can eat lobster, king crab legs and caviar! The only critique we can think of is the coffee served from the barista in the lobby was different every day. One day it was too sweet the next day was not sweet at all. We ordered the same thing every day. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the RIU Palace Mexico!
