Should not be 5 star. The food was fine, pretty much same standard AI as you normally get. The pool is huge and very lovely if you are quick enough in the morning to get a sunbed. The rooms need updating, comfy bed but old, cheap furniture not 5 star quality. We went into town 5 nights out of our 7, it takes about 15 mins to walk and we did it during the day and after dark no problem at all. Taxi option is also very easy. So much better than staying in the hotel, I wish I had gone B&B. The beach is much better near town as well as the waves are crazy near the hotel. If I went back I would not return here.

A nice and vibrant environment, Lovely staff and fantastic customer service. The grounds are beautiful and spacious. Food was great...the salad, shrimps and fruit made me ill so i will avoid eating those foods on the cape verde island not just at the Riu. Next time i will book directly with Riu hotels online instead of through expedia. As Expedia charged my account and then said I had cancelled the booking. I was charged in addition to paying at the riu property on arrival. There was no cancellation i thorougly enjoyed my stay. So this was disappointing to know expedia had done this. Then sent a cancellation email as a resolution 3 days after i highlighted the addition payment it to them.

I loved the Kasbah fortified town architecture, the inner gardens, excellent accommodation and view from balcony. The bedding and pillows were so comfy... I slept extremely well. Food was fresh and abundant, coffee place aromatic. All staff worked hard and efficiently and the local musicians were present every night. An amazing stay!

Fine for a night's rest for a Sal stopover

Excellent value for money, a great place to stay if you just want to disengage your brain for a night. Food is excellent, and there's lots going on... but remember it's an institutionalised environment with everyone behind a fence (it's hard to even glimpse the beach), so can feel a bit like boarding school rather than a hotel at times. Very friendly staff, lovely entrance area and nice pool (even if a little crowded).

Best beach holidays!

The hotel was absolutely beautiful, our room was modern and clean and very comfortable. The bed was a dream. Staff was super friendly and the all inclusive buffet was excellent with a huge variety for all meals and also possibility to grill your own meat or fish. It was one of the best holidays we ever had! The beach is very close and gorgeous with plenty of chairs available and a gorgeous palm grove to get out of the sun a bit. In summary, we had an amazing stay at Riu Cabo Verde and would definitely recommend it and book here again! Thank you!

Aussi je souhaite vous faire part de notre mésaventure au retour l’avion qui devait nous ramener à Lisbonne est arrivé avec 1h de retard ce qui a occasionné l’annulation de notre vol en correspondance vers Paris et une 2ème annulation de Paris à Lourdes non remboursable!!
