Breezes are nearly constant. The views are varied and assertive. Iguanas peer back at you from treetops, troops of monkeys traipse overhead, and birds and butterflies sweep by in abundance. A place to relax, feel at home while away, and a basecamp from which to explore stunning Guanacaste. The Space: The architect's vision for this house envisioned a tree-house/bird's nest, with breezes passing from all directions and providing a natural respite from the Guanacaste heat. And this new house works just as intended — no matter what time of day, it is cool and inviting in the larger living room and the deck overlooking the valley. We designed this house for friends and families to deeply relax together — views to enjoy together and gardens to relax in; a large kitchen to cook together in; and plenty of corners to spread people around when everyone needs a bit of space. A pool and pool house provide shade and refreshment outside, while air-conditioned bedrooms provide privacy and quiet space. The downstairs "sunrise" suite includes a kitchenette and spectacular panoramic dawn views. The house is completely private, quiet, and sits 6 kilometers/3.5 miles northwest of Samara. While the map shows an "airport" in the valley below the house, it's just a grass runway with one or two gyrocopters a day. NOTE: Unmonitored cameras are installed at exterior entryways for your security. The Layout: The Perch has a main house with 3 bedrooms: a total of two kings, and 3 singles. The main level of the house has two bedrooms and two bathrooms - one king, and one with two singles and a pull-out additional single bed. Downstairs is an in-law suite with a king, couch, kitchenette and full bath. There is an additional cabana, separate from the house, with a queen-sized bed, bathroom, and large couch. This additional space is only accessible to parties of 7 or greater. Other things to note: DISTANCES: 10 minutes to Samara. 5 minutes to Playa Buena Vista. 10 minutes to the exquisite Playa Barrigona. Now only 10 minutes to Garza and 20 minutes to Nosara on the newly paved route 160. The road from Samara up to the house, like many roads in Guanacaste, is rough. There is a river to cross during the dry season (Dec-April), so a 4x4 is recommended. In the rainy months between May and late-November, the river is usually uncrossable and it takes 20-25 minutes to drive to Samara (making Nosara a similar distance for shopping).
