Perched on a hilltop overlooking the city of Vicenza is the striking Santuario della Madonna di Monte Berico. Visit this baroque-style church to see a wealth of religious art and a sacred icon of the Madonna. Afterwards, relax at one of the nearby cafés and gaze across the rooftops of Vicenza’s city center. The church dates back to the 15th century, when it served to receive pilgrims that arrived to the city.
Stand at the steps that lead to the church’s main entrance and admire its architecturally breathtaking façade. The building is symmetrical on three sides and defined by grand pillars, carvings of religious scenes and statues of angels. The carvings and statues are the work of the Italian baroque sculptor Orazio Marinali. Look up at the central dome and then check out the red-brick clock tower.
Step inside the church to see the impressive collection of artwork and opulent decorations. Spot paintings by revered Venetian painters such as Alessandro Maganza and Paolo Veronese. Go to the glittering altar, dominated by a 15th-century statue of Madonna by Nicolò da Venezia. After mass, worshippers are invited to leave offerings and say prayers to the icon.
Find more art on a guided tour of the church’s museum, which is open by prior appointment only. See 15th-century frescoes and portraits of theologians that belonged to the Order of the Servants of Mary. The tour also includes a visit to the church’s terrace, which affords panoramic views of Vicenza.
Santuario della Madonna di Monte Berico is about a 10-minute drive or a 25-minute walk from Vicenza’s city center. The latter part of the walk follows a beautiful arcaded walkway. Free parking is available at Piazzale della Vittoria, in front of the church’s main entrance. Before returning to the city, relax at one of the nearby cafés and take in city views.
The church is open daily. Visit the church’s official website for information about guided tours of the museum.

Excellent location, Almost all attractions in walking distance, Friendly staff and good breakfast.
I liked the location from train, the staff, and how clean it was. I did not like that their was no AC available
Going to Vicenza? This is the place to stay if you like to be near the city center. One note the small rooms are really small.
I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights, clean and comfortable room, excellent location and impeccable and very friendly reception staff; unfortunately I didn't like breakfast, too many sweets, no hot breakfast, no coffee, I noticed that they are 4 people for breakfast (2 in the kitchen and 2 to serve) ...
This hotel is fairly austere but comfortable. I understand it was a former guest house for a convent. We were able to walk down to old town and sight-see. The walk back is all uphill. The doors are closed at midnight so one has to return before then.
Short stay, but it was nice. They have a Friendly staff and a mini bar in your room. A little warm sometimes because they shut off the A/C during fall season, I think it has to do with city regulation. My overall stay was ok. i will come back again.. this hotel also offers breakfast, if you have ...
