"quaint little spot"

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Pousada Castelo Estremoz. It's in the old town of Estremoz on a hilltop: you drive through an arch and over a drawbridge, up cobbled streets to a square where there's free parking. The hotel certainly has a wow factor: it's like stopping in a museum with many historical items and paintings set in grand rooms. Our room was actually quite small and the bathroom tight but had everything you needed although getting things like extra drinking water was not so easy. We ate in the restaurant - nice food and certainly grand if not a little formal for us. Breakfast was quite simply amazing - so much choice and all really good quality. l loved our stay - the odd quirks of staying in a historic building are massively outweighed by the amazing experience and I would highly recommend the hotel. "

"The Pousada is a beautifully restored convent, the grounds and the pool are well taken care of, and the staff was friendly and helpful. An absolutely lovely place to stay. Very walkable to the town of Vila Viçosa with its shops and restaurant. It far exceeded my expectations!"

"It was such a unique experience for my family and I to have high end experiences at our fingertips. Adding evening activities or entertainment for after dinner as an option would have made this even better than it already was. "

"Great hotel and great amenities. The staff was amazing and so was the food. Unfortunately it is located in an area with little surrounding such as a supermarket, restaurants … also no phone service but a great WiFi coverage. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing holiday."

"Very relaxing "

"Amazingly beautiful hotel and spa! Front desk reception were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast selections were anything from cereal, yogurt to freshly made omelettes. Breakfast staff were also very friendly and accommodating. The marble throughout the building was gorgeous and opulent. We did not make use of the spa area at all, but it looked first rate. Our only complaint was the lighting in the bathroom. The magnifying mirror in our room (132) had no light and the room’s lighting not bright enough for my wife to put on makeup. "
