8.6/10 Excellent! (1,001 reviews)
This is a very cool property built in the 1920s to look like an "Olde English" Inn. Every room is named for an English author. It's a unique experience and I'm glad we tried it out.
I don't usually use hotel pools but this one looked so inviting that I checked it out and was glad I did.
The staff was excellent and when our original room had toilet problems we were immediately upgraded to a junior suite with twice the room and a view over the pool, which we really appreciated.
The hotel is a bit rough around the edges and could use an upgrade. Also, since it was built 100 years ago, the bathrooms are on the small side. If you are looking for the latest in modern amenities, you might want to look elsewhere.
We chose the hotel primarily for its unique look and for its location close to Forest Park, where we visited the art and history museums and the zoo, but found it very convenient overall, since it is right off I-64.
