The hotel and rooms are gorgeous and in a great location. The staff is excellent and very helpful. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was great and the room was huge, which is not a common thing among hotels in Europe... so this was a definite plus for our last night in Europe, before a long flight home the next day. Also, our room had a wall of windows with a view of the water. All in all great. The only reason I didn't give 5/5 is because the people in the room above us were extremely loud, heavy walkers, banging and slamming things down on the floor above us until about 1030pm, it resumed for the majority of the next morning. This is obviously not controllable or at the fault of the hotel - and keeping in mind that it is a very old building, where perfect sound-proofing is not possible. There was not other crazy noice issues, but the elephants above did drag the experience down a little bit.

Staff and cleaning crew are top notch. When you get there, they may let you know that you won’t be staying at the same building that the reception is located…remember, you’re in Amsterdam…buildings are only so wide and tall. They had us just about three doors down in a room that was better than the picture online. I will never stay anywhere but here when we come back. My wife and I could not have been happier with the accommodation. You will love the location, the romance of the architecture of the accommodation, and I encourage you to open the window and look out at the canal and watch an amazing city.

I have used this hotel a number of times before; the staff is by far the most helpful and obliging stuff I have ever encountered at any hotels throughout my extensive travels. Rooms are extremely high-tech and take some getting used to: shower is an odd aquarium-like transparent contraption in the middle of the room (not for everyone). Play is also not separate from the seating space and is in another transparent ‘aquarium’.
