Beautiful hotel in a gorgeous location with exceptional staff. Not all of the windows have fly screens and there were numerous wasps and other flying insects outside. Because of this I did not feel comfortable to have the windows open, even during the recent heat wave. Appreciate that air conditioning units cannot be fitted due to the age and character of the building but fly screens should be achievable. There was a fan in the room and this helped for me but even so, my laptop got very hot and would not charge. Later when moved to a cool location, it was fine. I would love to visit again but probably not during a heat wave.

Fantastic hotel. Air conditioning was great! Restaurant and breakfast first class. Wonderful bar. Lovely staff.

We stayed here for one night whilst travelling through Basel. The hotel is easy to reach by tram, staff were friendly and the room was fine. Only problem was that the ‘room cooling system’ was actually just a fan, so we were very hot overnight. This is a basic hotel but has everything you need for a short stay. Breakfast was delicious.

The location was excellent, except for the many steps to get down to the old city. If you have knee trouble (like me), it’s not the best choice, but if you have strong knees, it’s wonderful. Very friendly staff, quiet but central location, about 10 minutes’ walk from most sites.
