Blue River House

Escape your busy life and connect with nature at our blue river house that overlooks the Congaree River! Our river house offers an inviting retreat for those seeking relaxation and peace. It blends vintage and rustic charm with cozy furnishings and an open layout, making it ideal for couples or single travelers, ages 21+. ** We live on a 70' bank on the peaceful Congaree River in the small close-knit rural community of Sandy Run. We are 30 minutes from downtown Columbia and 1.5hr from downtown Charleston. ** Our property is surrounded by trees. In fact, it's so shaded, that the temperature drops 6-9° from downtown Columbia. The stars are clearly visible at night, and we can see the skyline of Columbia from the top of our driveway. ** Please watch out for deer! You may encounter deer crossing our driveway. It is also common to see them dart across the roads, day or night. (Where there's one deer, there may be two or more!) ** Flip flops, slides and crocs are not the best choice of footwear. We live in the woods! Our property is not recommended for anyone with mobility issues or those who have difficulty navigating uneven terrain. ** We expect guests to be respectful of the environment around them. If you appreciate the outdoors, you will feel right at home. ** There is a short hiking path around our property that you can access. Six full loops around the entire property equals a mile. ** At the top of our driveway is our chicken coop that house nine chickens. ** There are honey bee hives 50ft to the right of the river house patio. Their flight paths are across the Congaree and upriver. Other than occasionally spotting them on the riverfront getting water, you shouldn't come in contact with them. ** My husband and I live on-site, about 100 feet from the river house. We are friendly people and welcome conversation. ** We have one female Weimaraner that typically keeps to herself. She is not a big barker. ** Across the river, you may see deer, blue herons or other wild birds, lightning bugs or even an eagle!
