Ange was lovely and place was charming

We asked for a late check out and even though the hotel was absolutely empty - (we were the only two people at breakfast in a room that could seat 100) the hotel still denied a late checkout (personally I think 11am checkout is too early) so we were charged an extra £20 for a 12pm checkout. When the room costs £500 per night this is totally outrageous. The hotel was empty so it would have been a nice gesture to offer a 1pm checkout given at most high end hotels 12pm is standard. Very disappointing. Also in the restaurant they put a main course on the bill that we had ordered but they had accidentally not cooked so we cancelled it but it was still on the bill and was subsequently removed when I mentioned it upon paying. The staff are excellent. The spa is amazing but they cut off spa treatments at 4.45pm for last 1hr service - we only just made it and my service started a few minutes late and finished a few minutes early and when the therapist left the room to give me a moment to get on the bed she was gone for 5 minutes meaning my massage was around 50 minutes but charged as an hour. The sheets are a little low quality compared to other hotels of this caliber but the rooms are beautiful and spacious. The views from the rooms are also lovely. The room service menu is unbelievably limited, almost nothing on it but the breakfast served in the main hotel restaurant is exceptional with a special nod to the crème brule porridge.

Quirky decor, comfortable room with great facilities. Breakfast was excellent, great choice, cooked to order and filled us up all day! Had sandwiches off lunch menu which were great value for money. Also ate in the restaurant at night, brilliant service and superb food. Hotel very convenient for walking to beach. Would highly recommend walking along the valley, lovely scenery. Just one small negative, our room overlooked hotel carpark and small narrow lane. The lane was used for deliveries and workmen so was a bit noisy after 7am each morning if windows were open. Only a small negative, overall we had a great stay.

Lovely stay in a clean, well maintained room. Had breakfast two mornings with excellent choice of continental and cooked. Staff very friendly and the grounds are gorgeous

An excellent stay in a beautiful venue, the receptionist was simply outstanding in every way, engaging, professional, funny, and couldn't do enough for you, a terrific advert for the hotel and one of the main reasons we'll be going back soon
