This is a typically Japanese hotel in a beautiful old town. Clothes are provided for wearing throughout the hotel. There is a choice of 3 private on sense or a public one. We had the included dinner which was excellent.
We were stranded by a typhoon and made a last minite booking to this ryokan. We had a pleasant welcome with hot water for tea waiting in our room. Aircon was on and room was clean. Only downside for a westerner was the shared bathroom, which I failed to realise when booking. The japanese shared bathroom ...
Attendant was very careful and thoughtful about all queries although she speaks very little English. Air-conditioning was old style but the weather was good so we left the windows open. The outdoor bath was small but comfortable and clean. Food was good too.
We booked the room with private onsen for three nights and that's so relaxing. The 9 course dinners (Japanese cuisine) (half board) were superb and have certainly exceeded our expectations in terms of quality and quantity. Breakfasts are different every morning too. The cost may be considered high ...
We liked the hotel and its onsen, and the traditional breakfast was very good. Staff is helpful, albeit it took a while to settle the papers at the desk at our arrival. Be aware that this hotel IS NOT in Takayama, as its title may suggest, but in Hirayu Onsens, a village 1 hour East of Takayama in ...
Wanosato is excellent. You will almost certainly be traveling from elsewhere in Japan, where you've had amazing culinary experiences. Even measured against the best restaurants in Tokyo and Kyoto, Wanosato will not disappoint. Further, this may be one of several ryokans you will be checking into. ...
This hotel was fantastic although a bit dated. However, for a dated hotel, It was really clean. I gave this place a 5 because my only negatives were purely of personal preference issues. The hotel experience was amazing. The dinners were fantastic and the hot spring was beautiful. Also, there is ...
Great experience staying in a traditional tatami room with low tables and futons on the floor. The traditional breakfast and dinner were a fabulous experience. The onsen was lovely, bathing in hot water looking at the snow covered mountains we used the public one but on both occasions had it to ...
The breakfast was pretty nice including the local cuisine. The overall room condition and public bath was good. Very quiet neighborhood. Only problem i would say about the hotel is the location -i.ez unlike the hotels in Takayama city district, this hotel is not accessible by public transpprtatio ...
The hotel is cozy but can use some renovations. The dinner was not typical Japanese but with Western dishes and are very well presented and delicious. The owner Yasuda San was so kind to keep our leftover fruits until end of the day. I would return to stay here again.
The hotel location on Expedia Map and Google Map is wrong. The hotel is actually 20 minutes taxi away from the train station, not within walking distance from the train station. We went to the location on the map which is a private house. We were lucky that a nice Japanese lady came to our rescue ...
