Prior to arriving, I had read a lot of bad reviews about this place, particularly about poor communication, the painful check in process, the 'scam' of the security deposit, rooms not being up to scratch and 'weird' guest rules. It had made me very nervous.
Be assured - don't be put off by any of the negative comments. Check in was simple. The main thing to do is READ the booking confirmation properly! Simply complete the pro-forma that is sent 72 hours before arrival, provide the damages security deposit when asked, and it is a simple and pleasant self check in experience.
The security deposit is not a 'scam'. It is clearly stated on the Expedia booking confirmation it is required, how much it is, and is paid back very quickly. Mine was paid back within a few hours!
My room was excellent - 26th Floor and exactly as advertised. A great view, everything was clean and set out as one would expect at a good aparthotel.
There are no 'weird' rules. When checking out, guests are asked to put used towels into a washing machine in the room and set it to an economy wash. It's not difficult, and the washing powder is supplied. Guests are also asked to take their rubbish bags and throw them into a self contained trash chute - there is one on every floor. It's not really a hardship!
Overall, I had a great stay here. It's in an excellent location, and for the money, the accommodation is a very high standard. I will happily go there again on my next visit to Toronto.
