![Tabula Traiana (Trajan’s Plaque)  is the last remaining piece of evidence an ancient Roman bridge. The tablet features Latin inscriptions telling of Trajan’s bridge; the longest bridge in the world for 1,000 years following its construction. Emperor Trajan completed the road across the Danube leading into Dacia. The bridge was 1,097 m long and 20 column supported the architectural masterpiece. 

In 1969, because of the Djerdap Project, building a dam over Danube river, Trajan's carvings with the inscription / Trajan's Plaque was protected from sinking by raising it by 20/25 m. It was placed just above the original location, cutting and fixing the entire block of the old bearing - a stone monolith together with the inscription and part of the road, about 300 tons in weight.
