Good hotel but not a patch on when Mr Wilson owne

Posted Dec 8, 2017
Stayed here many times and previously worked here when the hotel was in its heyday under Mr Wilson. Clean comfortable rooms and on tbe whole very friendly and helpful staff.. However. Whilst at breakfast, the restaurant Manager (Martin) was very rude to a younger female employee in front of guests and also shouted at guests for putting the toaster on tbe wrong setting. His whole attitude that morning will ensure that i will nor stay at the hotel ever again and will certainly not recommend it to Friends.

Lovely setting but cold & disjointed accommodation

Posted Dec 4, 2017
Pluses: Lovely setting, nice welcome, good traditional-style decor, clean, good shower. Minuses: Long trek to our room up and down many small flights of stairs (good job our suitcase wasn’t too heavy and my husband is strong), room was very cold, not enough bedding, badly laid-out bathroom, had to retrieve 2nd towel from wardrobe storage bag despite the fact they knew there were going to be two of us, bar floor was sticky.

weekend away

A pleasant but dated hotel , at the foot of the Wrekin . Rooms were comfortable albeit room 35 lighting was faulty. Room 51 on the ground floor was much better situated. Breakfast is self serve and the quality was good on both occasions , ends at 9.30 sharp , so don't oversleep. Toaster is old and slow and causes unnecessary queues. Mixed staff , girl on reception came over as too efficient , not interested as you as a paying customer , merely there to take your money efficiently. Hotel is reasonable value and local for many attractions in Shropshire

Nice Hotel at the foot of the Wrekin

The much need refurbishment has bought this hotel back to to level it used to be when Mr Wilson owned it.. Perfect place to say to explore the Wrekin and surrounding Ercall Woods. Good quality breakfast and clean comfortable rooms.
