The price that Expedia listed was different from the price that the hotel charged. The hotel tried to charge me more than $900, but the Expedia charged me $740. It took me some effort to work with the hotel to correct this which costed my time and damaged my impression to the hotel.

It markets itself (and prices itself) as a 5 star stay and the cleanliness, decor and location were indeed 5 stars. The service and general vibe were not. We were celebrating something very special and the Burg provided no above and beyond. Even the slightest bit of effort would’ve gone a long way. Would stay there again for free in an heartbeat (meaning it’s actually a nice, clean place to stay a night) but left disappointed by the hospitality/customer service given the price tag.

Every staff member we interacted with seemed completely disinterested in the guests. The woman at the front desk put us in one of the absolute worst rooms and didn’t explain how to reach the room which was on the second floor behind some doors that looked like big brown swinging kitchen doors.
My husband and I were celebrating our 30th anniversary and wanted to go someplace special - we were so disappointed in the Sofitel DC experience. We will never go there again!
