Walk by Georgian-Azerbaijan boder in David Gareji is great. We've been there at the end of May, as we've been warned it's the most rainy season in this region. There was a rain but it didn't change how epic this place was.

The Italko Monastery, 15km South-West of Telavi, in the 6th century was founded by Senon, one of the 13 Syrian missionaries. The original church dates back to the 8th century, but the church as seen today is from the 11th century with beautiful frescos on the inside. Dzveli-Gavazi Church, in Akhalsopeli, half way between Kvareli and Lagodekhi, Kakheti, Georgia. The original church, dated to the 6th century, was a simple structure with 4 apses and a dome. In the 8th-9th century it was surrounded by an ambulatory and the done was heightened.

Half way between Telavi and Sighnaghi, 2 km South of Gurjaani is the church Kvelatsminda - an absolute "must see", if you pass by. The church was built in the 8th/9th century and features a long structure building topped by two domes. The interior is already a clear 3-hall basilica and the height is impressive! In Gurjaani you drive up-hill for 2km then park the car and walk down-hill for approx. 300m.

July 2010 Keselo Fortress, Kvemo Omalo, Tusheti One of the towers of Keselo, a medieval fortress consisting of 13 towers built in 14-15th century, altitude is ca. 2.000 metres. The fortress originally served as protection against Mongol invaders and later against Dagestani invaders. It was mostly used only in summer months when the raids were usual. In winter people lived in the village below the fortress. It has lost its purpose in 19th century after the Russians allied with local Tushs. It was abandoned and destroyed during World War II. In 2003 the reconstruction started and sponsored by a Dutch family. Many of the towers were built back from ruins, accomodating a museum of local tradition with many old photos from the region. Keselo is few tens of metres over the village Kvemo (=Upper) Omalo, which is a usual starting point for trek west to Shatili in Khevsureti region or day hikes to Shenako or Diklo villages to the east.
