The world’s most unusual war memorial.
In Yarzeh, a village southeast of Beirut, I discovered this enormous conglomerated tower of real tanks, artillery pieces, mortars and armoured vehicles, sandwiched between thick layers of concrete. The 5,000-ton monument is 30 metres high and contains as many as 78 vehicles. It was designed by French-born American artist Armand Fernandez in 1995 and is entitled “The Hope for Peace.” #LocalSecrets #History
This palace is a beautiful 19th century castle that has been restored into a hotel. The historic architecture and surrounding views makes this a worthy visit.
