Aspen Grove Hideaway

Our calendar is updated in real-time & our nightly rates are accurately displayed. Simply enter your desired dates and click 'Book Now!'

Compact but character-packed, this Northstar vacation rental is a charming studio getaway! You'll be out and enjoying the slopes at Northstar California Resort with ease! Located just to the southeast of downtown Truckee, Northstar offers year-round attractions with premier skiing and snowboarding in the winter, as well as hiking, biking, golf, and a scenic gondola during the summer months. Right at this Aspen Grove Hideaway, you'll have access to Northstar community amenities like tennis courts, a shared pool, hot tub, and a sauna! And if you want to head down to crystal blue Lake Tahoe, it's under 10 miles to the beaches at Tahoe Vista, with Kings Beach just a few minutes beyond.

Your stay at this Northstar vacation condo includes everything you'll need to enjoy your Truckee getaway. There's WiFi, a flatscreen TV, cable, a DVD player, and even a gas fireplace. Come back from a day swooshing through fresh powder and enjoy mugs of hot cocoa in front of the fire. Even if the snow is falling down outside, you'll be quite cozy here. There's a well-stocked full kitchen if you want to make meals in (all appliances are included - even a dishwasher!), and when it's time to sit down to dinner, there's a dining table with seats for everyone. It may have a small footprint, but this Northstar retreat is perfectly designed and laid out! Out on the deck, you'll have a pretty tree-lined view and comfortable outdoor seating.

You'll be a short walk (or a free shuttle ride) from the center of Northstar Resort - the ski lifts, as well as the Village at Northstar for restaurants, a movie theater, bars and late-night entertainment, and even unique shops are easily reachable. There are communal outdoor fire pits at the resort for a cozy late-night, but of course, you could always just head back to your hideaway for some snuggle-time in front of the fireplace.

When it's not ski season, there are still plenty of things to do in Truckee! Take a scenic gondola ride in the summer, play some golf, hike one of Tahoe's scenic trails. If you feel like a drive, you can be at the lake shore in about 15 minutes for an afternoon down on the sand. Finish up your day with lunch in Kings Beach or cross the Nevada state line for some time at one of Crystal Bay's popular casinos.

Enjoy access to the Northstar recreation center amenities, which include tennis courts, basketball courts, a fitness center, a sauna, a hot tub, a seasonal lap pool, and an open grill area next to a beautiful creek surrounded by pine, fir, and aspen trees. (Site rentals include the use of three picnic tables and up to two gas BBQ grills with grilling utensils.) There is a $10 daily fee per person for use of the facilities.

Cute and homey
This was my second time staying at this property. Close to everything at Northstar, clean and warm. I just wish the bed and pillows were a bit more comfortable but great spot for the price.

Close to Northstar
The location is super close to the mountain/gondola. The studio is basic, but is a great place to rest after a full day of activities.

Great studio for skiing at North Star
Our family of four really enjoyed our stay. The condo was just enough space for two nights, with a comfy bed and pull out couch. Full kitchen and coffee was nice. North Star village is about a 5-10 minute walk and we were able to ski back to the condo which was a fun way to end the day. Parking was easy. We will definitely stay here again!

Location can't be beat
This condo needs a new interior paint job, but it slept me and my son comfortably for four nights, and the location can't be beat—it's an easy walk to the gondola, and an easy ski back!

Location and thoughtful amenities
We ski multiple times a year at Northstar (me and my teen/tween girls) and we often stay in new places. The location: when there is not a huge snowstorm blocking your path with heavy snow--you can walk with your gear by cutting through the sparsely wooded back area in about 7 minutes to the gondola. GREAT LOCATION for skiing/boarding. GREAT. Also we once used the community rec center for $8 pp using the included rec center cards-it's near the path to the gondola. There are THREE large hot tubs to choose from and a weight room and locker room with showers (and pool but we didn't use that). Also available is parking at the rec center while we used the rec center which was super nice (the cards we had were "the old system and need to be updated" so they didn't actually work but they can buzz you in and it was close easy to walk to anyway) Caution: avoid if you have people in your party who can not climb ~70 steps with luggage in their hand. The Studio is up three flights of stairs and down a longish walkway that also has steps to get from the parking lot to the building. [Elderly, toddlers, someone in your party has a broken leg. All will find the walk up exhausting unless you can carry them.] We are tweens/teens and sporty adult and we got a real workout each time we went up. Heavy breathing, the burning butt etc. We were pretty stressed when we arrive late at night and saw our walk. But we got used to it quickly and it ultimately wasn't a big deal. BUT once you are up there, the place is delightfully warm (often these ski places are drafty and cold) and well stocked. Hand soap, shampoo conditioner and TP for a couple days (bring more for longer stays), dish washing supplies. The kitchen has all the gadgets you want to bake and cook. Good knife set, (bizarrely limited amount of forks and spoons but there is a dishwasher) The bed is very comfortable as is the pull out sofa. The TV is YUGE and we enjoyed netflix options and included internet and the checkin and out process was very easy. It was also pretty quiet. There is a laundry room on the first floor with door code but we didn't use it. We enjoyed our stay and our behinds benefited from the stair workout!

Close and cozy
Finding the place was tricky in the dark and there is was no directions to the rev center with the hot tub but besides that the place was perfect location. Close to village and rec center as well very comfortable. The heat was on the fireplace and the bed was very comfortable. Easy to pull the sofa bed in and out and enough room for all our luggage. Would highly recommend aspen grove and would seek it out for our stay again!

Loved the location
5min Walk to the village throught the back trail. Nice and Bright and cozy condo. My family of four enjoyed our stay. Made breakfast and headed up the slopes. Nights we went ice skating at the village. The bed is comfortable. Would have given 5 stars if it wasn’t for the sofa bed. **The sofa bed needs to be replaced** no laundry in the unit. There is one in the building, but you need a code to get in. Never got a code, nor had the desire to do Laundry so it didn’t matter.

The best I could get on very short notice
While the property was acceptably clean and located in a well kept complex, it is on the second floor of a three story building and I cannot put into words how loud the person with dogs was above us. It really made It difficult to enjoy being in the unit.

Perfect studio apartment!
This studio is in a fantastic location, just below the Village. It's very quiet, peaceful, and very well appointed. It has everything you could need and the carpet and sofa appeared brand new. It would be a bit snug for more than 2 people unless you are a family used to sleeping in close quarters... We will certainly be renting this place again. We really appreciated the welcome bag:-)

Close to the slopes, but not the most comfortable. Not easy to find, then required multiple sets of steps up to the condo. Heating was intermittent and either too hot or not enough.

Convenient location to Northstar Village
My family and I enjoyed our first ski trip here at Northstar. The location of this place is very good and the room has everything that we expected. We just called for the shuttle to get to and from the village. Definitely coming back and staying here. However, the amenities (toilet paper and soaps) were not left enough for our 5 nights stay. We had to call in for more, and was replaced the next day. Thank you and God bless

Bad Managment
We had a weekend stay at this unit which advertised for sleeping 4 people. When we arrived the sleeper sofa had no linens or blankets. We called the management company and they said it was to late to bring us anything for that night and suggested we should go buy them!!! The next day I made multiple phone calls and finally got a hold of someone in the mid afternoon. The representative was understanding and she apologized for the short comings; she told me that she would have the linens brought right away and the manager would call me. The Linens never arrived and the manager never called me. I made multiple attempts to reach them but I was unsuccessful. When we arrived home I tried to call them and express my dissatisfaction to the manager and I was never able to reach him. I would have rated this place 0 stars because of the management company, I feel cheated that this place was advertised to sleep 2-4 but in reality it only slept 2 because of the incompetence of the management company.

Convenient Stay but not ski-in/ski-out
Almost ski-in/ski-out. Not on a ski run but easy enough to take the convenient shuttle to the village. We were told it was a five minute uphill walk to the gondola through the trees and we could see how you might be able to ski back through the neighborhood if there was the right amount of snow. Spacious for a studio and equipped with everything we needed. Comfortable, updated with granite counters. Plenty of room for two people. Property management is not as responsive as it should be. After 24 hours and 7 calls to ask for wash cloths and hand towels, one washcloth and two hand towels showed up with four more bath towels. Overall good value and close to everything.

Terrible service from Vacasa
Like a couple other reviewers, we were missing parking passes. Called Vacasa the evening we arrived and left a message, woke up next morning to a parking ticket, called Vacasa 4 more times, emailed 3 times before we finally received the pass the next night. It was a holiday weekend and we paid premium rate for the room, in addition to the service fees to Vacasa so I deserved a better experience than that. In addition, the welcome/confirmation email I received stated there were 2 bikes included. When we got there, there was none. Also the welcome folder in the rental stated there were 2 Rec Room passes, however there was only 1. I kept mentioning that to the 4 people I talked to so that I wouldn't be charge a replacement fee, but I never got anything in writing from anyone acknowledging there was only 1. So I check my credit card daily to make sure they did not charge us....so far so good. The unit is decent, but the bed and couch were super hard and uncomfortable. Next time I rent from VRBO I will make sure the unit is not managed by Vacasa.

Great ski-in/ski-out at Northstar!
We had a great stay at Northstar this past weekend. The place was great, perfect size for two people. It's a 5 minute walk to the gondola and we were able to ski right up to our front door after skiing all day. The unit was very clean and comfortable. The only hiccup was related to the parking passes, which were not in the apartment when we arrived. We were able to get them delivered the next day and we didn't receive a ticket for parking in the complex, so it was not a big deal. Overall, we had an awesome experience at this unit and would absolutely stay there again.

Remodeled unit with nice porch, lovely kitchen, and warm gas fireplace right next to Northstar
The condo was a perfect place for a couple days at Northstar. We used the porch barbecue to prepare dinner, and the house was recently re-modeled and so it was clean, cozy, and located right at the base of Northstar. Great deal for the cost!
