Vøringsfossen is the 83rd highest waterfall in Norway on the basis of total fall, located not far from Highway 7, which connects Oslo with Bergen. It is 182m/597' freefall. (June 2018)

Happened to drive through by accident. Noticed a couple of German tour buses turning right by the viewpoint sign and decided to follow. No disappointment: the waterfall is incredibly high, one of the most impressive I've seen in Norway! (And I've seen hundreds of various heights) It actually makes your head spin. The picture is the one of the mountain river slightly to the left from the actual waterfall; it is so grand one can't even take a panorama pic. Didn't climb up to the viewpoint on the top-no need. The power of the water is well felt from viewpoint by the bus stand.

This was from my first backpacking experience ever. I was thoroughly unprepared with my 40+ year old 15 pound tent from my boyfriend's grandfather but it all worked out. This was someone else's nicer and lighter tent and man did they nab a great view. Despite the rain and wind, it was definitely worth it. I love this picture because it shows just how small humans can be compared to the awesome vastness of nature. #Adventure means going out of your comfort zone and I certainly did with no regrets.
