No one has to feel crowded at Kapena Escape – and no one has to compromise. Multiple master bedrooms comfortably accommodate couples, with king-size beds and bonuses like double vanities in the bathroom, or walk-out access to the hot tub. The house sleeps 12 and includes 2 king beds, 1 queen bed, 1 full bed and extra futons. There are also 3 and a ½ baths.

Sit a spell in the rocking chairs on your wide wrap-around deck, soaking in the view of the lake directly in front of you and the majestic mountains cresting the horizon. Or take in the view from the hot tub! When you're ready for indoor entertainment, you'll find a lower-level media room with a flat screen TV, popcorn station, lots of games, and of course satellite connections for the TV and Wi-Fi for the Internet.

You'll love this home's tasteful décor and rustic mountain touches. You'll also be fully-equipped to handle any kitchen projects you want to take on, with pots, pans, dishes and a nice outdoor grill – at your service. All linens are included as well, and there's a washer and dryer for your convenience.

Although most High Country homes are well-cooled by our sweet summer mountain breezes, we've also outfitted your vacation get-away with central air conditioning and ceiling fans. In the winter, the fireplace provides lots of snuggling opportunities.

This home was built with your comfort and enjoyment in mind. It's located in a gated log cabin community with paved roads. There's even a garage to keep your car comfy!

Wonderful mini vacation
This property was wonderful for our mini vacation close to West Jefferson. It was a very clean house. With a well stocked kitchen. The back porch was great for relaxing and watching the Deer that came out in the yard and the hummingbird’s feeders.

Perfect getaway from everyday life!
This was the perfect getaway for a family of 5. Plenty of sleeping areas and bathrooms to accommodate everyone. The pond out back was nice for the kids to be able to fish during down time and still be able to watch them from the deck. All the fun things was within an hour drive to do and the mountain scenery made it a great drive everytime. We highly recommend renting this this cabin unless it’s on days we plan to return!

Basinger stay
This cabin was wonderful so clean and well stocked. The hot tub was the icing on the cake. We had space for our entire family of 8. And the fur babys. The only thing I would change is fence around the house so we could let the dogs out to run. Besides that this place is perfect. Thank you for letting us celebrate my husbands birthday here loves it.

Decent stay with no view though! Too noisy inside
The house by itself was in a beautiful location. But, it had no views of the lake or anything from the actual living room. It only had a view of the lake from the bedroom downstairs. The upstairs mattress is like sleeping on a rock. The couches still had some dog hair and we got itchy sitting on it. And it was very noisy, cos it was all barn doors. No privacy in any of the bedrooms except the basement. Overall it's a 3/10

Lovely Cabin
Everything was lovely here. We saw wildlife just about everyday we were there. So close to town for a bite to eat, groceries or just to shop. Also close to the parkway to drive for the day. Would definitely book again!

Nice trip to the mountains
We had a very nice stay. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking in. The gated community is nice but not very private. The main bedroom upstairs needs more blinds. Two of the four windows are not covered and sleeping in past sunrise is tough. Plenty of room for all. We enjoyed our stay. Would rent again.

Wonderful cabin!
This property far exceeded expectations. We had a wonderful stay. It was just my spouse and I, with a brief visit by our daughter (App State student). However there would have been plenty of room for several friends or family members here. The photos do not do this cabin justice. It was inviting, comfortable and peaceful. The secure community is quiet and truly lovely. We will definitely stay here again.

Mountain House Getaway
We enjoyed our stay at this mountain house. Pros, we each had our own bedroom and bathroom. Kitchen was nice. We enjoyed the deck and hot tub. There were TV's in each room if you wanted to get away from everyone. I wasn't sure how we'd like the gated community but actually it was nice because there wasn't a lot of traffic in the neighborhood. We took a kayak and enjoyed paddling around in the pond. We saw deer and a fat ground hog that lives in the backyard. Cons: The view from the deck is blocked by a tree behind the hot tub. We had to move chairs to the other side of the deck to get the mountain view. The bed upstairs squeaks loudly and the mattress wasn't comfortable. Two suggestions: make the bed on the main level a king size instead of a queen and put a gate on the part of the deck that goes around to the front. This would keep pets and kids on the deck safely. Over all we really enjoyed our stay and would rent it again.

Mountain Getaway
Booked this cabin for 3 reasons: 1. Fishing 2. Getaway from hustle and bustle 3. R&R Overall, this cabin fulfilled these requirements. Cabin is well decorated and located in a gated community. Easy to park my 15 passenger van in the driveway. Main level has garage access, 1 bed/bath, living room, kitchen and laundry room with 1/2 bath. Lower level has game room, 1 bed/bath and wet bar. Upper level has loft with 1 bed, master bed/bath. Kitchen was mostly stocked (we needed more cookie sheets and pots. Kitchen table and chairs really should be swapped with lower level table and chairs. Kitchen chairs are very uncomfortable. Stackable W/D worked great. Deck nearby wraps all the way around the main deck. Lower level has small deck(ish) access and has hot tub access. Gas grill igniter doesn’t work, but after using a lighter, it cooked us several good meals. Loved the views from the deck! Upper level bathroom is perfect for a couple with kids. Huge standup tiled shower and a separate whirlpool tub with his/hers sinks. Hated that there are no curtains or blinds on the upper level, especially when you’d like to sleep in a bit, after a long evening. Living room furniture was comfortable. Honestly, the beds themselves were not great, but were “OK”. Not very comfortable, according to all guests, but nothing is like your own bed. Plenty of room outside for the kids to play. Kids loved the hammock and the hot tub. Pond on property is stocked with mostly small bass, bluegill and a few carp, but it is catch and release only. The pond is about 500ft from the cabin and getting down is easy, but getting back up the hills is challenging and would not be suitable for someone physically disabled. Would suggest bringing a golf cart to use for easier passage. We caught plenty of fish. River access is just down the road from the main gate (keep going and don’t turn into the gated community to get to the river). River would be excellent for kayaking. Back to the cabin. Thermostats on every floor is a huge PLUS! Would suggest relocating the WiFi router from the lower level to the main level. Upper level had a hard time keeping an internet connection. Tankless got water heater ensured we had plenty of hot water for showers. No TV in the main level or lower bedroom, but the upper level, game room and living room had TV’s. Living room is a smart TV, but would recommend bringing a Roku device for more variety. Overall, we were happy and would stay again.

In need of improvements
We enjoyed our stay but the property does need some improvements. The front door needs planing as it’s difficult to open, only 1/3 of the fairy lights work out back, the fusbol is broken and most of the boardgames have bits missing. Make sure you bring toilet paper dishwasher tablets (there were 2 there for a weeks stay) and washing up soap as there wasn’t much for a weeks stay. I contacted the property management about this, the cockroach upstairs in the main bedroom and the fact the map on vbro is completely wrong the actual address is much nearer Nathan and west Jefferson but haven’t heard back from them. The view outside is nice. The hot tub was great in the evening but if you are looking for a retreat in a rural area rather than a more formulated gated community I wouldn’t recommend it.

Great House and Location
We really loved the house and the neighborhood. Beautiful view and loved the pond. A couple of things would make this spot even better: a small canoe or kayak to use on the water and some updated board games (they were all missing pieces). Fortunately we brought our own game. :-) The addition of a canoe to use would bring us back here for sure! Property manager was excellent to work with. We loved spotting deer, bunnies and fireflies during our stay.

So to clarify it sits on a “lake” which is more like a pond. But we had a great time and we enjoyed our stay. The grill was out of propane So we couldn’t use. Overall a nice relaxing get away and easy to social distance.
