However we chose this location to view the war graves and the lost post bridge and it was a perfect location. Breakfast was amazing, fridge well stocked with wine and beer. The just was friendly and helpful. This was our last stop on our two week trip around Northern Europe and we definitely saved the best til last. Easy walking distance to the Yorkshire Trench. Ypres is only a couple of miles down the road. Our hosts were fantastic and the breakfast plentiful. Expansive views over the surrounding area. Our hostess made us very welcome, all spotlessly clean, fab breakfast and rolls to takeaway for lunchtime. It's a great location to pay your respects at the WW1 war graves and to visit the museums. Ypres is a wonderful town with excellent local restaurants, chocolate shops and obviously the Menin Bridge with the 8pm "Last Post" every evening. It was a shame that the bridge is currently covered for renovations but this didn't detract from the experience. The location was also perfect to visit Bruges for a day ...which was well worth doing. Our host also gave us the tip to park at the station In Bruges for ease and price. Honestly if I could afford to I'd offer to buy this place and make it my home. And the people who run it are lovely. They even insisted to refund me a small fee because I don't eat breakfast so they didn't need to provide anything for me. I liked this place so much I made my own bed because it deserved it. I will be back. I loved everything about it and I am a picky person. The hostess speaks impeccable English and the breakfast was outstanding-- you could tell there was a genuine interest in making the stay memorable from start to finish. This is one place I would never grow tired of visiting and it is near several cemeteries and a interesting trench, I never knew about. The breakfast was very good with eggs how you like and different cheeses and breads. They welcomed us with coffee and tea. They were so accommodating and gave us great directions and advice on local sites. We learned later that the B&B was situated right on the battlefield and front lines of the WW1 battle at Ypres. The location was very central and close to downtown and all attractions/sites. The room was large, very clean and comfortable. Zij was bijzonder goed op de hoogte van alle bezienswaardigheden in de wijde omgeving en nam alle tijd om ons een massa tips te geven, die achteraf zeer waardevol zijn gebleken. Onbetaalbaar! Dergelijke service hebben we nooit eerder meegemaakt. De kamer was perfect, het ontbijt was heerlijk, de sfeer in de B&B was super, alles was kraaknet, en ook de locatie was ideaal: midden in de natuur, en amper 5 minuten rijden stond je aan de Menenpoort in Ieper. Deze B&B kunnen we ten zeerste aanbevelen! Breakfast is fantastic and Katja is a knowledgable, informative and very friendly host. The location is easy to find and parking is easy.
