"Excellent service, great onsen and great food. Owners are kind and accommodating, even gave us a ride up to see the monkeys. "
"Superb onsen experience. Our room was very clean with comfortable tatami/futon. Outdoor and indoor onsen was very pleasant as were the private onsen. Kaiseki was delicious and filling. Most of all staff and owners were very welcoming and kind. Will come back."

"The owner is the most attentive and accommodating man! Made sure we hade all we need, know where to go, even inquired as to where we were going…to make sure our experience was great.
Hotel is older but in great shape. The free/24-7 in house onsen was hot as heck! Varied day by day of course depending on what is being cooked up underground! Very clean. "
"This property was as traditional as it gets. Two Onsens to bath in. Each have separate times for men and women. Provide multicourse dinner that was as traditional as you can get. The breakfast was multiple items and also a classic meal. Very good. Room didn’t have a view but it had traditional tea set up along with kimonos to wear and traditional bedding. We were there only one night so it wasn’t a big deal to not have a view. Staff was very kind and tried to be of help. We got a shuttle ride up to the base of the Monkey territory. That was helpful. Specific staff speak better English than others. "
"We did the half board option and the food and service was excellent. It was great for experiencing Japanese cuisine and culture. Staff very friendly and helpful. Close to the station and the bus to see the snow monkey park. "
"Really enjoyed my 6-night stay here. It really is a traditional Japanese hotel and experience and loved the friendly and helpful staff, and the location is just a short 10 min scenic stroll across the river to the bus/train station.
Didnt know what to expect but the Japanese style tatami rooms were cosy and comfy, and the outdoor onsen was just what was needed after a day on the ski slopes.
The half-board option is a must if you love Japanese food and each night was like a little banquet with an array of different and fresh local dishes, and was great value.
Not a 5-star hotel by any means if thats your thing, but all in all a great stay and good location and Yudanaka is quaint little village at the foot of the Alps, that is worth a wander around, as Shibuya Onsen and Snow Monkeys are closeby.
