Relaxing log home on a private mountainside in Rappahannock County, Virginia

Relax, reconnect, and recharge at Poes Mountain Lodge. Enjoy the nature views and privacy that 50 acres provides.

The cabin is constructed with Canadian western red cedar logs. Enjoy 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an open kitchen and living area, a large deck, and a screened in back porch. There is a stone fireplace that contains stone from the original cabin that was constructed in the late 1700s.

Enjoy local wineries, Skyline Drive (about 30 minutes away), venture out to DC for a day trip, or stay put and enjoy the house amenities. The sky has very low light pollution which provides a great backdrop for stargazing at night. We like to sit on the back porch in the rocking chairs and observe all of the wildlife that call the mountain home.

Beautiful Log Cabin
My wife and I stayed over a long weekend. As soon as you drive up you can see this is well built log cabin. Inside was beautiful and immaculate. From the well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, clean and fresh linens (not masked with horrible fabric softener perfume), this place will no doubt exceed your expectations. Communication with owner was excellent.

What a delightful place!
My wife and I, along with another couple, loved our stay at Poe's Mountain. The place was very clean, check-in/check out were super easy, and Brian was very responsive. He also provided us with some great info on places to eat (Shawn's BBQ in Culpepper was delicious). We enjoyed sitting on the deck both morning and evening listening and watching the birds. We were even awakened one morning by a male wild turkey gobbling away outside our bedroom window with his female entourage following him. So enjoyable to see and hear. So very peaceful, too! We did not want to leave!!! We are definitely planning a return. Thanks again Brian for your hospitality. Rich & Luci

Wonderful two-night birthday retreat
What a wonderful stay in celebration of my mother-in-law's birthday! The house is unique, gorgeous and spotless--such a cool place. The signage on the property was super helpful, we were greeted with thoughtful snacks on our arrival, and the kitchen was well stocked. Brian was extremely responsive to our questions. The only small thing is that I was left wondering if the online guidebook was entirely up-to-date (for example, we struggled to find the trail to the summit that was described there--but we're no explorers so that could very well have been on us!). All in all, the whole family loved being here and would highly recommend.

Best Rental Stay Ever!
From communication to close, this was my best rental stay during my adult life. Outstanding kitchen and suppplies (quantity and quality), linens/towels, games, decent internet, a perfect gas grill, and most of all -- peace and quiet. Tons of wineries around too (go to Gadino). Never been so impressed with the over the top cleaning of a location as well...Marine Spotless! Outside solostove is calling my name fornwhen we return! So blessed to have found this property! Just what my family needed.

Perfect weekend getaway!
Lovely cabin! The host is wonderful. We stayed with two other couples, one older child, and three toddlers. We all had plenty of space to spread out in the cabin and the yard is huge. You will find everything you need and more. Our kids loved the toys that were already at the cabin and we didn’t unpack any of ours. The kitchen is VERY well stocked. Brian is incredibly responsive and has thought of everything to make this cabin a relaxing and enjoyable stay. While at the cabin we were already talking about plans to book it again!

Lovely stay
My family and I stayed at Pope’s Mountain Lodge for Christmas. It’s a beautiful house and property. Everything you need is there and beds are comfortable. It’s a perfect place to spend the holiday. We didn’t get around too much to visit the wineries, but we made it to the Copper FOX Distillery, which was fun. Brian is a great host and great communication. There wasn’t a thing we needed. I recommend staying there.

Secluded cabin near Shenandoah
We were looking for a quiet cabin near Shenandoah National Park and we sure found it. First the cabin. It was absolutely stunning. Nicest Vrbo property we have ever stayed at. Incredibly clean, well provisioned and comfortable. The cabin is spacious and very comfortable for my family of four and our dog. Second the property. We were looking for quiet and it sure checked that box. It was a beautiful wooded property with a nice backyard to hang out in with a firepit. We spent more time with at the firepit and on the deck than in the house. The location was exactly what we were looking for too. We were looking for restaurants or shopping or anything like that. We wanted to hike in the National Park and maybe stop in at a brewery and winery. Everything was within about 30 minutes which was great. Finally, communication was excellent. Brian was quick to respond to questions and provided the most detailed check in guide we have ever seen. It was great. Would love to stay again some time.

Wonderful Stay!
The cabin exceeded our expectations! Extremely clean and well stocked. Beautiful inside and out! Couldn't ask for a more responsive and helpful host! Approx 20 min drive east to Warrenton area & 20 min drive west to Sperryville. Easy under and hour drive to Luray. Tons of breweries/wineries along all routes. Warrenton has some great restaurants, but cabin has everything you would need to cook meals at home or grill out (Food Lion and Harris Teeter 20 min away). Wonderful large family sized table for meals and games. Highly recommend for a group of adults or a family with kids!

Amazing Cabin
We had a great weekend at this cabin. The cabin is beautiful, and it was spotless. We were 6 adults and one child and were able to prepare breakfasts and dinners for everyone as the kitchen had tons of pots and pans and any kitchen gadget you'd need. We also used the outdoor gas grill which was great. Brian and Erica responded to questions before and during our stay very quickly and effectively. They also left us with ingredients and utensils to make smores on the fire pit in the backyard. There were a ton of games for all ages that kept the kid entertained all day. There was also bug spray if you forgot to bring your own. I'd definitely stay here again.

Tranquil getaway
I stayed at this cabin years ago through another app, then finally found it again on VRBO. It was just as wonderful as I remember. The rooms are well appointed, the kitchen has all of the cooking implements we’ve needed, and Brian and Erica seem to have thought of everything their guests might have left behind. The cabin sits in a clearing surrounded by trees and blissful silence. It’s close enough to Flint Hill and Sperryville that if you want to break up your time in the woods with a restaurant meal, you’re just a quick drive away. The highlight is the space: modern with a rustic appeal, comfortable bedrooms, and that enormous great room that allows folks in the kitchen, dining room, and living area to have a conversation. Pair that with thoughtful, responsive hosts and you’ve got a dream getaway.

Weekend getaway
We just left after an incredible 3 night stay. We brought our dog and adult daughter. However, this place is chocked full of baby and children’s items too. Poe’s Mountain Lodge is absolutely beautiful. The home is immaculate. You could eat off of the floor, that’s how clean it is. It is thoughtfully appointed with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The little extras (basket of items you may have forgotten, treats waiting at check in) made for a very special welcome. There is so much to do at the house, any outdoor or indoor game you can think of are available. Be sure to visit Death Ridge Brewery for a fun afternoon and Blue Kitchen Inn for a delicious dinner out. Brian was so attentive, prompt and kind. I can’t say enough good things about this property. Can’t wait to come back.

Luxurious Lodge
This mountain lodge deserves 10 stars! This lodge is the best equipped VRBO we have ever booked with amenities that will satisfy a group of adults or a family with little ones. We were greeted with a welcome tray of goodies in the kitchen, which was well stocked with cookware and gadgets. There were toys for all ages, night lights, air cleaners, picnic blanket, bug spray, literally anything you might need was available. Grocery stores, wineries, restaurants, and lots of historical sites were close by. The pictures don’t do this place justice. It is beautiful inside and out, so don’t hesitate and book it!
