“We travel 16 hours from Houston to Iowa a few times a year. The Hampton at the Kansas Star is a perfect half-way stop to relax, recharge and get ready for the 2nd half of the drive. “This dump is neither a suite nor inn. Approaching the motel you see a very large abandoned, boarded up, run down, vacant, restaurant. The motel and office are around the back. It was very difficult to tell if the place had gone out of business especially when we found the entance to the office to be LOCKED!!! After banging on the door a woman, who was the ONLY employee, came, unlocked the door and let us in to checked us in. She performed ALL duties from maid to front desk activities!!! The room……

“Friendly staff and easy check-in, clean-ish room. My only problems were the hypodermic needle cap under the bed and, worse, the window won't lock on a ground floor room. I slept with one eye open over that, which isn't conducive to rest. Room 158. And there's no coffee pot ”

“The room was very neat and clean. The hotel was close to amenities. The bed was too hard for me to sleep on and the toilet sat too low with no bar to help pull myself up. I also had issues with the cable service. Half of the available channels were advertisement channels.”
