We paid 50USD for a private room with a private bathroom. Not too bad, but the bathroom was not very well kept, and a bit dirty. The location is great for getting to the Don Mueang airport quickly, and reasonably close the to the weekend market, but other than that there is really no reason to stay on this side of town. Our primary reason for staying here was the closeness to the airport. The hallways were also filled with old mattresses. I originally found this place on Hostel World and it seemed like a cool hostel, but really it's a low end hotel. I probably wouldn't stay again, but rather opt for something more in the mix of things, and just take a longer cab ride to the airport. However, being only 16-18 mins to the airport was convenient for an early morning flight.
The hotel itself is very nice! The staff were super friendly upon a late check-in. They provide some breakfast foods which are tasty and throughout the day if you want soup or coffee/tea. For breakfast, they had boiled eggs, apples, and an assortment of sandwiches. The private room was super clean and features a TV, aircon, water, and a diffuser to make the smell pleasant. I liked the comfort of this room! There is a shared bathroom which is clean. They provide shampoo and bath soap. I would recommend having some soap with you after using the bathroom! The bathroom also gets very warm (the AC does not reach it inside!).
I liked the hotel but the location was a bit far off from things to do. There's a 7-11 nearby and if you want some distance, there's a bus station. From there you can take the bus to Mo Chit station. There was also a train terminal nearby (Ban Khen station) that can lead you to the Bang Sue Junction or other locations (this can be delayed!). I used it to get back to Room at Vipa because there was SO much traffic heading back with either bus or taxi.
At night with the hunger pains, I could only eat near 7-11. It's definitely not a bustling location which makes it good if you like the quiet but it may not be as exciting. It's very close to DMK airport and about 45 min from BKK airport.
The staff were super friendly! There's also a restaurant nearby which is convenient.
Easy access near Don Mueang airport off Hwy 1. Clean stylish hotel at good value. 2 staff members I saw both spoke English and were very helpful. Has a large new 7-Eleven and a fashiionable Cafe next door! Can also access Mo Chit Skytrain station with short taxi ride (<100 baht) staff called for me. Will come again for quick Bangkok trips.
The hotel itself was good, but what made my stay exceptional were the staff there, especially Tina who'd made every effort to make the BKK experience great. It takes a very kind and patient person to call taxis for her customer several times a day, print maps of all the wonderful areas BKK has to offer, and share Thai culture in comprehensible and fun ways. If you are looking to stay in a quiet neighborhood and friendly statf to chat up, kindly consider Room@Vipa
Staffs. Breakfast. Location. Comfort. All these things are what i look for in a place to stay. This place nailed it. I also like the fact that there is 7-11 right next door. The restaurant downstairs is also very nice. My room was spottless and the reception works 24 hrs. There is also good wifi and you can leave your luggages free pf charge.
Its the place we stay in Bangkok...we feel safe there and the staff is extremely helpful and competent. Located close to small street restaurants and shooping areas...just take a taxi...200 baht max...and you will be ...anywhere. The restaurant Doze, in the same building is ...good and expensive...but the servants/staff lacks professionalism..but are always...friendly.
Good service from very helpful staff. Clean rooms. Nice feel to hotel. Massive 7 eleven next door. Street food stalls outside. Close to chatuchak weekend market. Good value for money. Close to Bangkoks 2nd airport (Don Mueng) but allow 5 mins more than you think to get there as you have to head in the opposite direction before you can take the U-turn bridge and head Back in the right direction.
Tucked away off a main drag, stay here not for the location. It is roughly 100 thb (metered) from the older DMK airport not counting 50 thb surcharge. Stay here because its a fairly unique enterprise, a boutique hotel with a fresh vibe that moves away from institutional looks. There is nothing fancy about the furnishings, but I could sense a pride of ownership. The staff - all of them- were warm and welcoming. The place was clean, bright, and had a fresh feel. It even had an adjoining first floor cafe/bar which offered a cozy place to catch a bite. Our bed may have been a little on the hard side, but it is an above average budget hotel, and I would stay again in a heartbeat.
In my case, "shared bathroom" meant one bathroom sharing with two private bedrooms.
My private bedroom was small but seemed to be acceptable to Japanese people who were familiar to small bedrooms.

Liked: Staff & service
Quiet location, friendly staff
Quiet location but not easy to find the hotel as you cannot see it at the main road. The staff is friendly but cannot speak English well. We book a family room with 2 double bed, room is spacious but too bad the fridge & kettle is sharing not in the individual room. There're ants in the room & in the bathroom, no hanger in the bathroom for hanging the towel / clothes which is not convenient for all of us.
The good:
- Quiet area during the night we stayed.
- We had a couple of requests that not all hotels would agree with and had very good service.
- In general a good stay.
The bad:
- The room we had was leaning a bit, not a big problem but felt strange.
- The beds were really hard. Westerners might not be used to it but for me it was okay.
- We had some ants in the room.
We loved this hotel. It's little ways from the city so it's not so crowded and busy everywhere. The hotel itself is wonderful. Full of art and books, it's even attached to a Tudor center. The restuarunt was really good! Somewhat expensive though. The room was really big and they upgraded us to a private bathroom for free! I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
