9.4/10 Exceptional! (1,104 reviews)
Our most recent visit was the third time staying here. Overall, it was a good choice to stay while visiting Charleston over Labor Day weekend for its convenent access to downtown Charleston. We chose this hotel because of its beautiful pool (we knew the temperatures were going to be in the mid-90’s), 15-minute shuttle service to downtown, and boat access to the city as well. However, I should have given more thought to the number of very young families as the pool was very crowded and there were not enough lounge chairs or umbrellas for shade. The pool water was VERY warm. Even though the room was ready upon check-in the hotel could not provide a key because the system was down. We had to wait for the manager to appear and let us in with the master key which seemed like forever because we were excited to see the room. The staff tried to make up for the wait with a $2.00 wooden token that could be used at the bar or the adjacent restaurant. As remembered, the room was very spacious and the decor beautiful. The hotel offers coffee in the morning, both brewed in carafes and with a machine for cappuccino and the like. Both were lukewarm-warm at best. There is no restaurant or bar (a minor inconvenience) within the hotel but adjacent to it is one that offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, If you decide to book be sure to request a room with a balcony overlooking the bay as the sailboats in the distance make for a beautiful view.
