The Cottage at Broke Estate is a peaceful little pocket of the Hunter Valley. Rustic, charming and thoughtfully styled for a comfy, relaxing stay. Whether you're here for a romantic weekend, a solo escape or a quiet family getaway, The Cottage is a place to slow down and soak in the good stuff.
Sleeping up to four guests (yes, little ones are welcome too), it has two king bedrooms, each with its own ensuite so everyone gets their own space. The vibe inside is relaxed and inviting with vintage finds, soft linens and all the modern comforts you need.
The kitchen is fully equipped and ready for anything from morning pancakes to dinner made with local wine and produce. It opens onto a living area with a fireplace for chilly nights in and a smart TV if you feel like switching off with a movie.
Step outside and you’ve got a few options: a covered area for long lunches or lazy evenings with a bottle of red and a firepit that really shines after dark. If the stars are out, it’s a pretty magical spot.
While The Cottage is close to the main homestead, it’s tucked away just enough to feel private. Your hosts Bernadette and Max live on the property and are always nearby if you need anything but otherwise you’re left to enjoy it all in peace.
We’re a short drive to some of the Hunter Valley’s best wineries, restaurants and wedding venues. But you might just find you want to stay put, especially if you’ve brought kids. There’s space to roam, explore and enjoy a taste of farm life. Just a heads up: it’s a working farm and there are a few unfenced waterways so little ones will need to be supervised. We’re happy to provide a porta cot and high chair on request.
This property is just delightful, the setting and the cottage itself are gorgeous. We found our rooms very comfortable, quiet and well laid out. It is a charming place with responsive hosts.

A peaceful retreat
A lovely rustic property where you can watch eth cattle and galahs from the kitchen window. We stayed on an incredibly warm weekend and the air-conditioning was very welcome.
