Heart's Delight Farm Cottage - isolated location

Nestled in a tranquil, unspoilt valley with a wonderful countryside view, this cosy, secluded cottage, with its own garden and parking space, forms part of a Victorian Oast house built in 1867. The Farm is managed to provide a habitat for native species whilst also producing wildflower hay, logs, honey and juice.

There are many footpaths to enjoy directly from the cottage. To the north, the Black Robin pub, serving delicious food, is just over a mile's walk away on a track through woodland. To the east, up over a field and down quiet lanes, Barham has a thriving community shop with local food from various local farms. There is a small play area in Kingston, and a couple more in Barham. Despite being very rural, the fascinating medieval city of Canterbury is a short bus, cycle or drive away. With the amazing cathedral precinct at its heart, the city has many other historic features to explore on foot. Or instead take a punt through Dane John Gardens and experience the beauty of the river Stour. Sandy beaches are readily accessible with Sunny Sands, a lovely secluded beach in Folkestone with a café and a shop or two, or Sandwich, a historic coastal town with an expansive, wild bay, both about 20 minutes away by car. Enjoy gourmet food while you are there at Rock Salt, a famous restaurant. Dover Castle is a great day out, while the Pig, a newly opened boutique hotel, is in the next village up in Bridge, with fine dining on offer. And London is just 56 minutes away on the high speed train from Canterbury West.

Heart's Delight is a superb location for a refreshing holiday in quiet countryside. The cottage has been furnished with families in mind, but couples also find the cottage very appealing. There is a compact upstairs bathroom with shower, and a larger bathroom downstairs for longer soaks.

King size beds or two singles are available in both bedrooms. A travel cot, booster seat and Stokke high chair for toddlers are all in the cottage, along with children's books, videos and a few much loved toys.

Heart's Delight Cottage
This little cottage is ideal if you want to get away from it all, it is isolated, that's why I chose it, so it felt very safe in our current COVID climate. Katrina, the host, was extremely quick to respond to a query I had when staying here. The porch would benefit from an outside light that automatically comes on after dark, because we needed to use torches, which luckily we had in the car. We bought some of the farms Honey and Juice, which were very reasonably priced and great tasting. The nearest pub is nice, but you must book for an evening meal. The community shop is comprehensive ( forgotten tooth brush) and has a post office. We had a lovely stay, lots of places to visit, warmly recommend this cottage.

Peaceful haven to escape the British weather
The cottage is the perfect place to spend a wet and windy October half term! It is quiet, set in beautiful countryside and has all the facilities you need. The wood burner was lovely, and made the place feel really cosy whilst the wind howled outside. Katrina and her husband were very welcoming and made us feel right at home. Thanks

A Peaceful Retreat
A beautiful and well maintained cottage situated in a lovely location. We had a pleasant and restful stay here as well as being in close proximity to a number of good pubs and restaurants. Our friends from the USA were captivated by the rural setting and we are certain that given the opportunity we will return here at some point.

A lovely cottage, well appointed with everything you well need for a few day in the countryside. We had a great couple of days with our two boys exploring Canterbury and other places. The property is a mile off the main roads and if you have the weather and like star gazing an ideal location.

knus vakantiehuisje

A heart delighting place
We spent 3 wonderful weeks in The Hearts Delight Cottage. The cottage itself is so charming, it has a very special atmosphere. We had everything we needed and felt at home from the very first moment. The surrounding area is described as “area of outstanding beauty” and this desription is really true. Katrina and her family are attentive hosts, friendly, open, welcoming and extremely quick in helping when we needed anything. Above all I was allowed to help Katrina feeding the lambs which was an extraordinary experience for me (we live in a big German city!). The Black Robin Pub is a 20 minutes walk from the farm, it serves good food and has a friendly service. We enjoyed very much hiking around the cottage and the country. For all guests who love walking as we do: Katrina and Roland provide maps for "short walks" in the wonderful adjoining private wood that last for 25, 35 or 40 min. Hikers will find many more information in the cottage, for example: Ordonance Survey Explorer maps 138 and 150, OS Landranger map 179, OS Pathfinder Guide "KENT Outstanding Circular Walks", Elham Valley Way Guidebook (Kent Environmental & Planning Agency), Kent Tearoom Walks by Michael Easterbrook (Country Side Books), 50 Gemy of East Kent (Amberley Publishing). The community "Elham Valley Walkers" developed walks around Barham, Kingston and Elham and published these on their website elhamvalleywalkers.co.uk. Besides towns like Canterbury, Dover and Folkestone are near, the sea is not far away, there are castles and lovely gardens to enjoy. Thanks to Katrina and her family, we are looking forward to meeting you again. (Brigitte+Michael from Cologne)

Heerlijke vakantie in prachtige cottage!
