We arrived about an hour and a half after the original check-in time, but our room still was not ready. The front desk staff also did not mention the $50 fee or explain the reimbursement or resort fee process (still waiting to get that money back). I only learned about it by overhearing another staff member. Once in the room, we noticed several issues: the Nespresso machine was broken, the shower floor felt soft underfoot, the table had only one chair, and the walls were thin, which made it hard to sleep with noisy neighbors. On the positive side, the facility was nice and the on-site restaurant offered good food, although the brunch service could have been better. Overall, it was a decent stay. It was not the best experience I have had, but certainly not the worst either.

Shepherd’s Run has a great gym and pool area, and the rooms are fine but small. What surprised us is that it is essentially a wedding venue rather than a true hotel. Much of the property is devoted to wedding reception areas and a tent. We were told the nearby nature reserve was not accessible by foot and that it was filled with bugs. The winery is not yet open because the vines are so new, so they serve Long Island wines at reception. Our room had one tiny wastebasket next to the toilet, no bottled water, and we were told we could have maid service once during our four night stay. Our stay was fine, but it does feel like you’re in a conference center or wedding venue.

The front entrance and the parking lot across the street were not sufficiently lighted, walking was a bit treacherous. The shower door in our room needs to be realigned, very difficult to open and close. Otherwise we were very happy with our stay and plan on returning.

The resort itself stood out so beautiful!
