After you've ticked off the interesting sights in Brera, there's a lot more to see in the surrounding region. Collect the keys to a rental car, stow your bags in the trunk and get out on the open road. We've come up with some road trips we know you'll enjoy:

• Genoa is about 75 miles from Brera. Popular tourist spots like Aquarium of Genoa should be high on your list here.
• Why not see the wonders of Turin too? Top sights here include Allianz Stadium. Turin is about 80 miles from Brera.
• Piazzale Michelangelo is approximately 160 miles from Brera and is one of the region's most beautiful nature spots. Go for a wander around and enjoy the fresh air here.

If you don't have a driver's license issued in Italy, then you might need to get an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country in order to rent a car.
