There's lots on offer in Terai Chō, but head farther afield and you'll find even more magic. Pick up a set of wheels and you can meander around the surrounding region at your own speed. Add these fantastic destinations to your travel plan:

• Head to Osaka for a fun-filled sightseeing adventure. Roughly 90 miles from Terai Chō, it has lots of great sights such as Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan.
• Your next pit stop? It has to be Kyoto, which is around 110 miles away. Kiyomizu Temple is one local hot spot you really shouldn't miss.
• Make your way to Momochi Beach to rediscover nature. Take a picnic to enjoy or just sit and unwind. From Terai Chō, it's roughly 220 miles away.

If you don't possess a driver's license issued in Japan, then it's likely you'll need to acquire an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country to be able to rent a car.
