The Playa de la Concha (usually referred to in English as Concha Beach) is a beautiful central beach in the city of San Sebastián in northern Spain. It’s located in the stunning bay Bahía de La Concha, which takes its name from its distinctive “concha” shell shape. Spend a fantastic day on a spacious Spanish beach with amazing views and lovely walkways.

This famous beach of San Sebastián is about 4,400 feet (1,350 meters) long. Its width varies depending on the tides, but it has an average of 130 feet (40 meters) of sand to enjoy. It’s separated from the river Río Urumea by Monte Urgull. Look for it on the east side of the beach. On the west side of the bay is another beautiful mountain, Monte Igueldo. These mountains provide perfect protection against strong winds, so you’ll probably be able to sunbathe on the golden sand and go paddling and swimming in calm waters.

While you are at the long Concha Beach, go on a walk to enjoy the coastline and take amazing photos. Discover the panoramic scenery, such as the Isla de Santa Clara. This gorgeous island has steep edges that rise about 157 feet (48 meters) above the sea. Find Pico de Loro (Parrot’s Beak), a small rocky passage at the end of the beach. Behind this narrow way, you will discover another popular beach of San Sebastián called Playa de Ondarreta.

Rent sunbeds and sun umbrellas at Concha Beach. The parasols are usually striped in blue and white, the colors of the flag of San Sebastián. In the evening enjoy a cocktail or a nice dinner at the bars and restaurants near the beach, most of which have spectacular views of La Concha.
