We were overall disappointed with our stay at the Marmalade.
Good:
Located in beautiful Portree on the Isle of Skye, right near the main square and centrally located on the Island. The room was well appointed and comfy.
Bad:
The door to our patio would not lock properly unless you forced it, almost to the point of breaking. Making dinner reservations at the restaurant was difficult. The gentlemen at the desk directed us to the restaurant but no one was there. We waited several minutes and looked around before going back to the desk where the woman whom now sat there happily made the reservations for us with no issue. The restaurant itself was underwhelming for both breakfast and dinner. While the food was serviceable, the quality did not match the price, especially for breakfast. The breakfast hostess did not welcome us the first morning we went. We stood at the podium waiting to be seated for almost ten minutes before she noticed us. She sat on her laptop at one of the tables. We had no idea she was the hostess, we thought she was a guest or we would have said something. It was frustrating. When we checked out, our bill was not correct. Their system was down due to weather messing with the power and WiFi, but after explaining multiple times we paid our dinner bill at dinner, so should only be charged for three breakfasts, it still wasn't correct when they sent it by email. They undercharged, so I let it be.
Unfortunately, I would not stay here again.
