Cleanliness was an major issue
The house and development were as described, but cleanliness was a major issue. Floors hadn’t been mopped, with 5–10 large dead bugs in plain sight. The couch was covered in pet hair, crumbs were under the cushions, and the counters had a sticky tan liquid—likely old beer—that appeared to have been sitting for days. Trash cans inside also contained a similar brown liquid.While hosing down the bins, we discovered a large hornet’s nest on the front porch. An adult was stung—thankfully not our two-year-old.We checked in at 4:15 PM on July 3rd and noticed the issues quickly. The property manager offered to send someone, but we assumed they were minor. After unpacking, we realized the problems were more serious. With no one available that evening, we spent the first night cleaning with supplies we purchased.We heard back the morning of July 4th, but no one was sent due to the holiday. On the third day, one of the owners reached out with an accusatory tone, claiming her inspection photos showed no issues and implying we caused the mess. We declined help since we were out and had already cleaned. Despite all this, she refused to refund the cleaning fee—even though we had to pay out of pocket and lost the first night of our stay cleaning. Poor communication and an unnecessarily combative tone from the owner.
