Visit one of the largest mountain resorts in the area and paddle down tranquil rivers. Caves and waterfalls are other popular year-round attractions.

Grey County in the Canadian province of Ontario spreads out along Lake Huron’s Georgian Bay. The area has a long list of things to see and do in all seasons. Travel here in winter when Blue Mountain Resort attracts snowboarders and skiers on its groomed runs and trails.

In summer, the resort is known for its golf course with rolling hills. The nearby beach provides various craft rentals, while the spas are in demand year-round. Take a thrill ride on a mountain coaster with speeds up to 26 miles per hour (42 kilometers per hour) or zipline above the trees. The resort has stores, restaurants and concerts for a complete vacation stay.

Appreciate the county’s natural beauty at several conservation areas. The 57-acre (23-hectare) Eugenia Falls Conservation Area includes an all-season trail with views of the 100-foot (30-meter) falls. Hike or snowshoe farther inland to pretty Hogg’s Falls or plan to visit other waterfalls in the county.

Numerous trails invite exploring, such as one through Feversham Gorge Conservation Area, with dramatic limestone cliffs and the Beaver River. The 37-mile (60-kilometer) Kolapore Uplands Wilderness Trails is great in summer or winter. Various sections of Beaver River are popular for paddling and kayaking.

Follow the Apple Pie Trail, a self-guided culinary trek through fruit-growing areas with 28 points of interest along the way. The all-season attraction travels through towns and orchards highlighting restaurants, cideries, museums, markets and more.

Go underground on a cave trail to explore geological formations on the Niagara Escarpment. Bruce’s Caves Conservation Area includes underground caverns formed up to 8,000 years ago by a post-glacial lake while the Collingwood Scenic Caves is located in one of Canada’s UNESCO sites.

The county’s urban center, Owen Sound, has Tom Thomson Art Gallery, named after a landscape artist who was an influence on the renowned Group of Seven artists. Visit a vintage railway station that doubles as a visitor information bureau and heritage center.

Drive or take a bus to Grey County, located about 2 hours northwest of Toronto.
