Located in the gated Queens Grant community, The Canal House is an immaculately clean and stylishly furnished 3 bed/3 bath townhome ready to host you and your family. Sandwiched between the Ocean and the Sound directly on a canal, you truly get the best of everything! A twin bedroom and full bathroom with walk-in shower, along with a spacious living area, kitchen, deck, and sound access are the highlights of the first floor. As the end unit, the living area is full of great light and an unimpeded view directly out to Topsail Sound! Up the stairs, you'll find the owner's suite with it's own deck and the same great view of Topsail Sound, as well as an en suite bathroom with walk-in dual head shower boasting a river rock floor. The 3rd bedroom includes a queen bed and en suite bathroom with a bathtub/shower combo. Outdoors, you can enjoy the sun and views from the deck in the Owner's Suite, or sit, eat and relax in the shade of the deck on the first floor. A patio under the first floor deck includes more shaded seating, a porch swing, a grill and a drop-down table for outdoor eating...we recommend laying down some newspaper and dumping out a large low country boil or steam pot to enjoy with friends and family. Steps from the deck/patio you'll have deep water sound access from the canal. The "day" docks are perfect for mooring your boat during your stay, while the floating dock offers a perfect spot to put in a kayak, canoe, or paddle board. If you bring a boat, Queens Grant has its own private boat ramp and trailer parking/storage that you are welcome to use during your stay. You can be out of your bed, on the boat tied in the canal, and on your way to your favorite fishing spot in a matter of minutes each morning. A newly renovated pool and clubhouse just a few steps out the door provide a place to hangout for those less interested in the salt water adventures. Plenty of chairs and tables for enjoying a day by the pool, and a playground and basketball court are nearby for fun and games as well. All of that, and the main attraction, the beach, is still just a few steps away. Load up our beach cart and head just past the pool to the Queens Grant beachfront property where you'll enjoy private access to the beach. Spend all day lounging in the sand and then come back home to the soundside for dinner and sunset views over the water. It's the best of both worlds! We do have security cameras on the property, one located in the carport with a view of the driveway and street, and another on the back deck with a view of the sound and canal. The cameras are all aimed towards public areas of the neighborhood and do not view or monitor any spaces that our guests would be using privately. Our family (5 adults and a dog) enjoyed everything about it! It’s clean, comfortable, spacious, well stocked and beautiful! We loved kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing, as well as watching for dolphins and jumping fish in the canal and intercoastal. The balconies were perfect for watching storms roll in and our dog loved keeping an eye on everything from them (there’s a folding gate that kept her from going down the stairs). Proximity to the beach is awesome, just a quick walk across the street and over the dunes. We spent many days floating and riding the waves to shore. We liked the location because it’s not commercial, not super busy, but is an easy drive to get to restaurants, coffee shops and shopping in Surf City or Topsail Beach, both of which are cute and portions are as if time forgot them. We went to Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach for a nice day trip. The owners, Elisabeth and Bryan, were super quick anytime I messaged them with a question. There’s really nothing better we could have asked for! The house was super clean and spacious for our teen boys, my in-laws and us. The house is close enough to walk to the beach, but the sound side daily fishing (catch and release) for my boys was awesome! None of us used the community pool or other community amenities. The evening sunsets were spectacular, and we were able to see a few nights of the full, red moon. The boys and my hubby enjoyed the kayaks and paddleboards. We ate out at Shaka Taco and Beach Shop and Grill, but cooked in the rest of the time. Plenty of markets for groceries and fishing supplies. Elisabeth was super helpful and quick to respond! It was a much needed, quiet, low-key vacation spot! Easy walk to the pool and beach. Short drive or bike ride to South Topsail where there are restaurants, a pier, a skating rink, coffee shop and more. Queens Grant feels very safe and all the renters/owners we met were so kind. The townhome is very well stocked. My husband didn’t stay the whole time and actually took some of the extra stuff we brought home. There are plenty of beach towels, kitchen utensils and cookware (we’ve all stayed at that place that considered cookware one pot and one pan), but not here. They had boogie boards, kayaks, and paddle boards to use. They also had baby gates which was helpful for keeping our dog on the patio while enjoying playing games or reading books on it. The place was just as described, quite possibly better. Very clean and well thought out. Some of the places we visited that we enjoyed the most are Daily Grind (coffee, donuts, pastries), Santorinis (lasagna, calamari, chicken parm), and Surf City Pier (fishing, socialization, BLTs and breakfast burritos). I do just want to make you aware that the stairs can be a lot especially the outdoor plus the indoor if you are in and out frequently. My mom hurt her knee shortly before the trip and ended up staying in the smaller room on the main floor to avoid having to do so many. Honestly though pretty much anything on Topsail Island has stairs so there is no real avoiding it. The view of the canal, sound, and beautiful houses greeted us every morning and was so relaxing to look at. The ocean was only a short walk across the street and we enjoyed shell and shark tooth hunting every day. The drive to Serenity point was very short and we went to the south end several times. We would definitely book this property again! My only request (and its a small one) would be a gate for the deck for the dog, or small children. We made a make shift one so he could enjoy being out with us unleashed when we sat at the table. Elizabeth communicated with us incredibly well and everything was better than we expected. It was the perfect amount of space for our family (four adults, two children). We loved being on the canal and having very close beach access. We made good use of the kayaks and beach chairs Elizabeth offered as well! Gracious, attentive hostess, Very clean, exceedingly well stocked home. Everyone from parents, kids and furry friends will find something to love. Owners have great beach and canal toys, paddleboards, boogie boards, kayaks that we all enjoyed. Also worth mentioning the bathrooms were all clean and fresh. Kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. We booked a last minute stay and we’re so fortunate to find the Canal House ! It was a perfect fit for me, my wife, our 3 teens and our dog. Everything was as described or better. Even the neighbors were great! The paddle boards were fun for us all. Elisabeth is an excellent communicator and was very prompt to get all of my questions answered. The space is well thought out and labels throughout were a nice touch. I’ve really been to a rental home that has been so well equipped in the kitchen. Our family came for Thanksgiving weekend and we had everything we needed in the house. Our family had a blast at this property! The sunsets were amazing and the stargazing from the upper porch was magical. The proximity to the ocean was great and the pool was nice and clear.
