This 3-star hotel in the center of most of the sights in Dresden price-wise is very affordable and well worth spending just a bit more. It's right by the old market (Altmarkt). In September there were booths with all kinds of wine, beer and food nightly in the market square in front of the hotel. The room was extremely spacious and modern. There always seemed to be someone at the reception. The hotel has a bistro downstairs, which was amazing. There were also plenty of restaurants nearby. The daily breakfast at the hotel is amazing. The tram stops almost in front of the hotel. The train station is a 15 minute walk (the same amount of time it takes a taxi), and most of the sights are within a 15 minute walk as well. The only thing that would have topped my stay at the Star G Hotel would have been a room with view over the square. I highly recommend this hotel.
