Fantastic friendly service, characterful property and a pleasant change from a chain hotel. Not right in the centre but only a very safe 6-8min walk from Minster, shops, restaurants etc… Breakfast was outstanding and good value at £16 for juice, coffee, pastry, yogurt and fruit and Eggs Benedict. Full English a bit more, lighter options from £11. Quite a lot of parking outside at £15 a night (good for York) but it’s very tight & I’d advise contacting them to reserve a place. I got the last one right at the back and it was a real squeeze. Only negative for me was my twin room (124) had a skylight but no pole to close the blind. Hence my room was flooded with light from 5am. Reception were apologetic when I mentioned it.

Perfect location for a shopping/cocktail trip. Would definitely stay again, but our room received zero WiFi as it was below ground level, unless you were in the bathroom?! However, York in general was pretty poor for WiFi. The staff were lovely and accommodating.
