"It was a lovely setting with a beautiful pool and poolside wine bar. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed both tasting the wines and enjoying the generous breakfast. Thank you for a relaxing get-away."

"1990's decor in the room,up dated bathroom, huge wardrobes. No luggage racks, except for a small cut out. Once again we had to improvise. Bed's comfortable. Parking off road awesome, breakfast ok,staff were a little tired and weren't helpful as they tried to close well before 11oclock. Obviously not happy with people on holiday when they weren't. Front counter staff helpful and very accommodating. Casino was clean and fun."

The best area to stay in Komen is within the main village of Komen itself, particularly around the central square and the streets immediately surrounding it.
The village of Komen is the administrative and cultural center of the region. It's a compact and walkable area, characterized by traditional Karst stone houses, a historic church, and a peaceful village square. Most of the local amenities, including a few restaurants and shops, are concentrated here.
For couples seeking a relaxing and authentic experience, staying in Komen village is ideal. It offers a calm base from which to explore the surrounding Karst region, known for its vineyards, cycling paths, and local culinary experiences. You're well-positioned to visit nearby attractions like the Lipica Stud Farm or the Škocjan Caves, returning to a quiet village setting in the evenings.
When is the best time to go to Komen?
The best time to visit Komen is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant for outdoor activities and exploring the region.
Late spring offers comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F), making it ideal for cycling through the vineyards or hiking along the Karst trails. The landscape is lush, and the grapevines are beginning to flourish. This period is particularly good for couples interested in scenic drives and enjoying the local wine cellars without the peak summer crowds.
Early autumn also provides excellent weather, with temperatures usually between 10°C and 20°C (50°F to 68°F). This is harvest season in the Karst region, making it a superb time for food and wine enthusiasts to experience local festivals and taste fresh regional products. Travelers looking for a culinary experience will appreciate the opportunity to visit agritourism farms and enjoy seasonal dishes.
While summer (July and August) is also popular, it can be quite warm, sometimes exceeding 30°C (86°F), which might be less comfortable for extended outdoor activities.
