In El Brujo and Chan Chan see artistic treasures predating the Incas and enjoy panoramic views from the Andes to the coast. Among the most alluring coastal towns is Huanchaco, which has a tranquil atmosphere. Work on your tan on the beaches of this relaxed commune, which lies in Trujillo’s northwestern suburbs. Swim in the Atlantic Ocean to make the most of the warm weather from January through April in this dry region. See fishermen out on their caballitos de totora, boats that are built according toMoche traditions. For a change of scenery, head inland to Huamachuco, which is surrounded by mountains. Its town center is characterized by charming colonial buildings. Admire the Marcahuamachuco pre-Inca wonders in the northwestern outskirts of the commune. The region of La Libertad is located in the northwestern part of Peru, about 350 miles (563 kilometers) north of Lima. Fly to the Trujillo International Airport and travel through the city by bus or taxi. The city also has a cruise terminal in Salaverry.
